Seeker friendly churches

Are Seeker friendly churches Arminian, Neo-Orthodox, etc? I know they all do not fall under the same umbrella, but imagine a church where they do not preach on the true gospel, sin, hell, repentance, and other essentials, but primarily just focus on man and his needs, and all the psycho babble in the world. Would you call that an Arminian church? I would not. Lutzer has been talking about these types of churches in the book I am reading. He does not call them Arminian churches but something far worse.

The Apostle Paul uses the word: anathema--literal translation: without God. Re: Galatians 1:1-9. Anathema is used again in I Cor.16:22.

Seeking in the whole counsel of God is wonderful; seeking in the world of religion is disaster.

I was thinking the same thing! We are a small church - we had 46 this week. There was a new family that came and we welcomed them with open arms, got them a cup of coffee, chatted with them and made sure they felt welcome. Hubby was preaching and he made sure that the Gospel message was clearly communicated in his message. He didn't have it written in the message notes but he will be sure a new person does not leave without hearing the Good News of Jesus. But I would hope that someone who is seeking is comfortable at our church and I pray that God sends us a lot of them! I LOVE seeing lives changed. It honestly makes me want to dance with joy....and I don't dance! LOL

You are welcome to check in on our website and listen to messages anytime. Gratefulness to God that we see our Baptistry in regular use showing the life change of people who are seeking and finding answers to the question reminded by another.

When I worked at a Christian radio station, I had a talk radio show. Someone called in and said they attended a friendly church. Well, that prompted me to attend a number of churches - incognito. Yes, most churches were friendly - within their own clicks!
Out of some 50 churches I visited - only five passed my "friendly church test" and all five were liberal churches.!

I also found that often the bigger the church, the less friendly it was.

So then....why arent they? geeze, dont ask questions about doctrine, about theology, about practice as it scares them! Just go along....sit there like an empty headed lemming & just smile & it will all work out.....ah nah, not for me. I tend to scare people with my questions. Good, they should be scared. :laugh: ....cause I will make you think.

so these little put put churches dont hold up for me...they are mostly scared of me

No, I would call that the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, or the Unitarian Universalist church, or perhaps the Presbyterian Church USA. Has nothing to do with their soteriology. Stop looking at everything through the lens of Calvinism.

I was in Philadelphia once and got lost and ended up in Jersey. The area I was in was...interesting...to say the least. (I kid...you'd probably say the same thing about my neck of the woods [northeast Georgia]).

Seriously, though, what is a "put put church?"

By the way, I question things, too. I don't like it when people just blindly follow what someone else says without studying it out for themselves.

No, I would call that the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, or the Unitarian Universalist church, or perhaps the Presbyterian Church USA. Has nothing to do with their soteriology. Stop looking at everything through the lens of Calvinism.

It's not Calvinism it's scripture. Besides I don't know if I would consider Lutzer a Calvinist. Besides that I finished a book Sunday and the author was not a Calvinist. But I rated the book 4-5 stars because he was BIBLICAL. I even mentioned it in SS discussion. He hit the nail on the head regarding truth. Most in past 3 decades have been theologically illiterate and churches these days rarely preach on things negative or what offends people.

I agree. These kinds of churches multiply like bunnies in Colorado. Recently I contacted five of them and kindly asked questions and took them to the scripture. Not a single one of them wanted to reason with the bible but wanted me to have an experience at their church instead.

But I also contacted another church that was not seeker friendly but the church held to certain eschatology views that I do not. I had a great chat with the pastor and he knew his bible well and read many books. He was not at all offended that I would ask questions and thanked me for it! That's a good church.

I have had enough and prayerfully I am gonna evangelize some of these seeker churches. I have some gospel tracts written from a Paul Washer book and I am gonna soon stop by a church and plant then on people's cars and send letters to a few of these churches. There are not many Mormons or Catholics in my area but there are tons of seeker churches emphasizing humanism over scripture. The pastors may take offense at my letter and Paul Washer tracts but I care enough to say something that there may be a dozen false converts in these churches. I do not know but I need to evangelize.
