Israel was most cetainly a witness to the world. They understood this with clarity. Why did God raise up Daniel in a heathen economy. He became a witness of who God is.
Why did God raise up Joseph in a heathen economy? He became a witness to who God is.
Why did Jonah get sent to Niniveh? He was a witness to who God is.
God has not changed in this respect. Israel is a chosen people by God to be a witness and to deliver the savior. This is the same before and after the ressurrection.
