Should Christians take political sides?

Does taking political sides as a Christian alienate those of opposing political views from Christ? Do we misrepresent Christ by claiming to be Liberal, or Conservative? Do we alienate nations from Christ and increase persecution of fellow believers when we support one foreign nation, Israel etc., above another?

If you dont alienate someone based on politics - they will find something else.
I agree. But I can witness to both liberals and conservatives where many who polarize themselves with political agendas cannot. I also remain neutral on the State of Israel for the same reasons.

Before I was saved - saved 1962 while in the USAF - and for a while afterwards i was a JFK Democrat (Blue/Yellow Dog) and remained that way until 1968 or so until the Democrat Party began supporting Elective Abortion and I LEFT the party.

I won't even vote for Blue Dogs anymore even if they are pro-life.
For me, if they claim to be profile and are in a party which officially supports abortion then that is a falsehood (that they are pro-life).

Later I became a small "i" independent and only voted for pro-life non-democrats.

Thanks. I always support the least amount of innocent bloodshed if I vote on a national level. But normally vote on a local level either party. But don't take political sides.

Though neither major political party is covering itself in glory, I find the Republican platforms to generally be closer to my thinking than those of the Democrats. Therefore, I register as an R, in hopes of helping more desirable candidates move on to the general election. (Doesn't seem to all that effective, unfortunately.) :(

I'm also registered as a Republican but don't advertise it simply because of the hatred between both parties today. And all need to hear an unbiased gospel. But what I always ask, how can I vote in a way that will produce the least amount of innocent bloodshed, not only in matters of abortion, but in foreign policy as well.

Liberals support and promote so many unGodly and sinful behaviors that I don't have any problem at all speaking out against them.

I consider it my Christian duty.

I speak out against the sins of both conservatives and liberals. Both are products of carnal mindedness.

When conservates support and promote homosexual behavior, same sex marriage and abortion on demand, they will be included when I speak out against it.

But personally, I don't know any that do either.

This is good, but you alienate those you should be trying to reach upholding worldly political unions in place of Christ. I

When we stop speaking out against sin, we have ceased to who we say were are.

If a persons political orientation leads them into supporting , excusing, and promoting sinful behavior, then they have to recognize that as their own sinful behavior, and repent of it, or they can't be "reached" at all.

Their "confession of faith" is without meaning if they refuse to recognize their own sinful behavior and repent.

Tiptoeing around it does no one any good and leads those you may be "trying to reach" to eternal damnation. Is that what you want to do?

I would say that a Christian should be a voter, and also to vote and support parties/individuals that reflect more so the Biblical standard.

I am not a pacifist, I will take sides according to my Christian values and whatever is more likely to accomplish those goals. That said, the Democrats are not even in the ballpark. .

I vote but no body I know personally knows how I vote or if I vote at all. Or if I'm conservative or liberal. I can speak to all of these occasionally. But as soon as I embrace a political ideology I know I would lose immediate contact with several and misrepresent Christ. They know I'm a Christian and consistently Pro-Life, that is against all killing. But I try to be like Paul when he says he's this or that to all that he might win some for Christ.

Is Donald Trump 2016’s most LGBT-friendly Republican?

We are identified by being in Christ, not any political party or Candidate!

I was thinking about this while I was out. And it comes down to this. I can witness to liberals, conservatives, Democrats and Republicans, all of whom visit occasionally. But as soon as I put a Trump sticker on my car, I've become the object of hatred by those opposed to any who support him. And I've misrepresented Jesus. And the same is true had I put a Hillary sticker on my car. Never have I seen conservatives and liberals hate each other as I see today.

It is best to remain politically neutral for the sake of doing what Jesus called us to do. Try to reach everyone.

I do, but privately. But I always vote for the least amount of innocent bloodshed. And sometimes this involves voting for those who support a less violent foreign policy.
