Even after being born from above we still sin, right. So God really doesn't fix the problem does He. Rather He tells us to be perfect, like your heavenly Father. But He is the only one who is & can be perfect. So He frustrates us by making us do something unattainable.
So my question to you is why are we fighting sin? Isn't sin just another word for "Reality?" Yea we have it written in our hearts not to Murder, become an adulterer, not to cheat & steal .....and here is a good one, Not to Covet! LOL, how do you do that when the whole system is built for coveting?
But I do believe that the Lord does sit back and provide freedom of choice. I can refuse to be a slave to sin, to the government, to religion, to misfortunes in my life. Indeed I could use life's experiences to educate & elevate myself & if i believe in any Deity, I would thank him for the liberty of choice.....for without it we would be slaves indeed.
2 Corinthians 7:1-3
1 Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
2 Receive us; we have wronged no man, we have corrupted no man, we have defrauded no man.
3 I speak not this to condemn you: for I have said before, that ye are in our hearts to die and live with you.
Colossians 1:28 Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus
2 Timothy 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
If you go and read this whole chapter (Peter's Ladder) you will see that there are steps towards becoming what God wishes for you to become. And it says that if we don't realise that we need to take these steps then we are blind. God wants us to have His divine nature, to be like Him. When He says to be ye perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect, He really means it.
2 Peter 1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
And if you will notice, it says we do this by beliving in the Bible promises. This is GENUINE 'beliving in Christ'. Doesn't the Bible say 'I can do ALL THINGS through Christ who strengthens me?' If you say no you cannot, then you are calling God a Liar.
Matthew 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
John 14:21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
If we don't oey God, the fault is in ourselves, and not with God.
However, with all that being said, the Bible also tells us:
Philippians 3:12
Not as though I had already attained, either were already
perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.
Perfection of character is a process that we go through.
The Bible also says,
1 John 2
My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an
advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. ...
But if you think that God is commanding you to perform an impossibility, then you are already defeated from the start because you are suffering from UNBELIEF.
And that's where the Sabbath comes in. The 7th Day Sabbath is biblically the SIGN that notonly do you believe in the true God, the CREATOR of Heaven and Earth, but also that you believe that he is the one who sanctifies you and makes you holy. He only can create in you a new heart; that was what David prayed for in te Psalms, for God to create in Him a clean heart and a right spirit. You cannot do it yourself. But you must cooperate.
Why would David have even prayed asking God for a clean heart and a right spirit, if it were an impossibility to have it?
Hebrews 4:
4 And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.
5 And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.
9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
We must progress BY FAITH. It is a GIFT.
It is all pretty simple, but people like to make it complicated. Evidentally, these people possessed such faith...
Luke 1:6 And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.
