Siblings, or not?

Matt. 13:
55 Is this not the carpenter’s son? Is not His mother called Mary? And His brothers James, Joses, Simon, and Judas? 56 And His sisters, are they not all with us? Where then did this Man get all these things?”

I believe these verses plainly show Jesus had siblings.

I'm having a discussion with some non-Baptists who say there's no proof that those were Mary's children. They cite the several meanings of "brother" to the Jews of that time.Their aim is to attempt to establish Mary's perpetual virginity. In return, I've asked them for Scriptural proof they were NOT His siblings, by His mother, Mary. No replies!

Also, His bros. are mentioned in:

Matt. 12:46 While He was still talking to the multitudes, behold, His mother and brothers stood outside, seeking to speak with Him.

Luke 8:19 Then His mother and brothers came to Him, and could not approach Him because of the crowd. , repeated in Mark 3:31

Gal. 1:19But I saw none of the other apostles except James, the Lord’s brother.

Now, before anyone gets carried away, let's remember that most of those in Jesus' immediate circle, both men & women, had very common names, with several having the same names.

And Joseph didn't wed Mary just to be his cook!

I believe Mary's virginity went "POOF!" shortly after the purification time after childbirth was over.

What are YOUR opinions?

I believe in the Virgin Mary… Until the “days of her purification according to the law of Moses were accomplished.” In which it is also said in Matthew…

Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife: And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name Jesus. - Matthew 1:24 -25

i believe Mary remained a virgin until approximately 40 days after the birth of Christ.

According to the Law of Moses, any Levite, the priest of GOD, must marry only virgin or a widow of a priest, but never divorcee (Leviticus 21.7) (Ezekiel 44.22).

Jesus Christ as a Highest Priest of all priests cannot be born from illicit marriage but only from the virgin woman and a man who never new woman before, otherwise His birth will be defiled.

By giving birth to other sons and daughters in the way as all human do (this time without Holy Spirit) she of course no longer a virgin but became regular earthly mother, but this does not minimize in any way her extraordinary and special position as a woman who gave birth to Jesus Christ by the Holy Spirit of GOD, and she can be rightfully considered as the highest mother above all the mothers of the Earth.

But she is not a goddess and never will be. She fulfill her role as a mother of Christ and this is it. Those who make statutes of her, idolizing her, and praying to her, are the same people who praying and worshiping idols and mythological gods, pagan worshipers, all of whom are abomination to the Lord.

BROTHERS OF JESUS CHRIST

Acts 1.14
14."All these were constantly devoting themselves to prayer together with certain women, including Mary the mother of Jesus, as well as His brothers."

1Corinthians 9.5
5."Do we not have the right to be accompanied by a believing wife as do the other Apostles, and the brothers of the Lord, and *Cephas?"

According to Matthew 13.55-56 and Mark 6.3, Jesus had four blood related brothers:
James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas, and number sisters whose names are not mentioned.

During crucifixion of Christ, His mother Mary with her two sons James and Joseph was present along with Mary Magdalene, and mother of the sons of Zebedee (Matthew 27.56) (Mark 15.40).

After crucifixion and burial of Jesus, Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of James, bought spices and went to the tomb of Jesus to anoint Him. (Mark 16.1)

In Luke 24.10, Mary the mother of James along with other women went to the disciples of Christ and told them everything that was happen during her visitation of the tomb of Jesus.

Paul also mentioned James as a brother of Jesus when he went to Jerusalem to visit Cephas that is Peter (Galatians 1.18-19).

Jude 1.1
1."Jude, a bond-servant of Jesus Christ, and of brother James, to those who are the called, beloved in GOD the Father, and kept for Jesus Christ."

I believe her virginity went poof during the birth of Jesus her firstborn son.

From Matt 1:25 τὸν υἱὸν αὐτῆς τὸν πρωτότοκον The son of her the firstborn.

Also

This one is he who did come through water and blood -- Jesus the Christ, not in the water only, but in the water and the blood; 1 John 5:6

My opinion is you are arguing with some nutty folks.
They are members of a certain non-Protestant denom. One of their arguments is, "According to Scripture, they didn't act like younger Jewish bros. of those days acted toward the firstborn.". That, of course, is silly.

Their whole idea is to support their false doctrine that Mary was a perpetual virgin. I told them their idea was adapted from the Greek tale that their goddess Athene was a perpetual virgin.

After all, their religion is an eclectic mix of Christianity, "Mystery, Babylon", Greek & Roman, & Persian, with a touch of Egyptian.
