Matt. 13:
55 Is this not the carpenter’s son? Is not His mother called Mary? And His brothers James, Joses, Simon, and Judas? 56 And His sisters, are they not all with us? Where then did this Man get all these things?”
I believe these verses plainly show Jesus had siblings.
I'm having a discussion with some non-Baptists who say there's no proof that those were Mary's children. They cite the several meanings of "brother" to the Jews of that time.Their aim is to attempt to establish Mary's perpetual virginity. In return, I've asked them for Scriptural proof they were NOT His siblings, by His mother, Mary. No replies!
Also, His bros. are mentioned in:
Matt. 12:46 While He was still talking to the multitudes, behold, His mother and brothers stood outside, seeking to speak with Him.
Luke 8:19 Then His mother and brothers came to Him, and could not approach Him because of the crowd. , repeated in Mark 3:31
Gal. 1:19But I saw none of the other apostles except James, the Lord’s brother.
Now, before anyone gets carried away, let's remember that most of those in Jesus' immediate circle, both men & women, had very common names, with several having the same names.
And Joseph didn't wed Mary just to be his cook!
I believe Mary's virginity went "POOF!" shortly after the purification time after childbirth was over.
