It is fair to say Fauci should be more critical of Cuomo's handling of the NH situation, in hindsight. At the time the priority was keeping the hospitals running and it was not clear that nursing homes were being asked something inconsistent with federal guidelines until reviewed after the fact. Cuomo should also be rightly criticized for hiding the data after the fact.

I've been through this one ad nauseum. Surgical masks don't protect the wearer but provides some protection for others from the wearer. That is still true. It was not recommended when there were few cases and few masks which were reserved for medical staff. Once there were more masks and more cases, it made sense to recommend them for everyone. What Fauci said then was true and it is still true now and none of that is inconsistent with any of the recommendations.

There is a difference between wearing a mask for optics and protection and wearing a mask just for optics. Wearing a mask helps protect others and the optics of it is reassuring to others and helpful to remind them to wear a mask and that we are still in a pandemic.

I still wear a mask in my consultations with patients for both reasons, it is reassuring to some patients and even though I have received my first vaccine dose and the risks are low, there is still a very small chance I could catch and transmit covid19. I don't ask my patients to wear a mask unless they have respiratory symptoms and that is really more for the rest of the waiting room than it is for me. Some choose to wear a mask even without symptoms. Also we have only had a handful of cases of covid19 in NSW for the last 6 months or so and for a period I decided to go without a mask. But with these latest cases in Melbourne I have restarted wearing a mask and one of the reasons is the optics of reassuring folks and reminding folks that we are still in the pandemic and not to let down our guard.

None of what Fauci said is even remotely controversial unless you are looking for controversy.

That reveals an ignorance or blindness so severe it may be nigh impenetrable.

It's not that your statement was faulty in its simpleton formulation, but that it is false in its assumptions, thus also false in the implications you imagine.

The Trump administration was targeted by deep state forces, which are primarily Dem Progressive Left and RINO on their surface, that is, where exposed. Sometimes the exposure also reveals foreign influence even of US enemies, such as Communist China and Russia.

There are three branches of government, but only some positions are elected. Many positions are appointed and confirmed, not to mention career, which a current presidential administration may have had no part in, and which may be difficult to correct.

Then there are the difficulties of an outsider like Trump even having people to replace the subversives. Draining the swamp would be a daunting task, perhaps as impossible as breaking through the blindness and ignorance exhibited in your posts.

Bottom line, saying something happened on Trump's watch may mean nothing more than that it happened without his foreknowledge or involvement. It may very well mean that it happened against his express orders, even for the purpose of undermining his administration.

I suggest sticking to medicine and staying away from trying to assess US politics, at least until comprehending this much of what is transpiring in it.

I agree I have trouble keeping track of all the conspiracies out there. I'm not sure how you guys do it, changing your understanding of history and the world on a day to day basis.

So covid19 was developed in the Wuhan Institute of Virology, no wait it was in Anthony Fauci's basement, sorry I meant Obama's deep state laboratory in his last 11 days in office. Either way after releasing the virus "they" also had the vaccine ready about a year later to kill all the remaining survivors with blood clots or brain haemorrhages, but then that would make tracking them or controlling their thoughts with nanobots a bit redundant. How does 5G fit in again? Oh right it was Bill Gates who developed covid19 and the 5G network controlling people. But wait, I thought covid was all a hoax made up by the media and it is just a flu. So why did "they" need to develop something in the deep state lab that was just like all the other coronaviruses that we already have?

That quote was from March 8 2020.

At that time there were only 500 confirmed cases of covid19 in the US then and there was a mask shortage for health care workers. So yes, the average person walking on the street should not have been wearing masks at that time. Once the case numbers started sky rocketing and the mask availability no longer a problem, it made sense to then recommend everyone wear masks because of the next point.

It is still true that surgical masks do not provide the protection that people think it does because as I have said over and over again, it provides some protection for everyone else from the wearer but very little protection for the wearer because that is what they were designed to do. This is still true from what we know now.
