transitive verb : to drink (liquor) especially continuously in small amounts
- tip·pler /-p(&-)l&r/ noun

Main Entry: top·er
Pronunciation: 'tO-p&r
Function: noun
: one that topes; especially : DRUNKARD

So what you're saying is that a bishop should never be a drunkard, and never, without exception, get drunk.

I agree.

No, I read it that a Bishop is not to drink wine.

But, help me out here. Where did you get tip pler? Never mind, I see it now.

I have to say, that is a long way from "not given to wine". :)

Lets just say, he would be better off to stay from it period according to the "not", don't you agree?

No, I don't agree. The "not" totally negates SOMETHING. The question is, what does it totally negate? It totally negates getting drunk. That's what the words say. It doesn't matter how strong you make "not". It doesn't change the meaning of "drunken".

Ok, I disagree but can see how you could come up with your answer too by going to the Greek. I can go to the Greek and come up with not drinking also. So you drink and I will abstain. :)
