Charles Spurgeon not only drank beer and wine but also smoked to the glory of God. I hate cigarettes but how is a Cegar? Anyone here smoke? It's not good for you in excess but perhaps here and there would be okay.

Use to smoke 40 years ago... Quit cold turkey... Smoking used to be our culture. Shown on tv, movies, magazines and old photos just to name a few. Back in the day military men smoked a lot and it guess it was show you were a man. Smoked cigars a few times, was not my thing... Now a pipe that is a different story... I guess it make you look more dignified. The tobacco flavors sure smelled better. Our preacher, long gone smoked a pipe which led to lip cancer... He quit smoking all together... I once ask Dad will smoking send you to hell... He said, no son but it will sure make you smell like you had been there... Speaking of having one here and there... Think again!... My Dad died 12 years before my mother he was a constant smoker... Didn't die because he smoked... Mom on the other had died of C.O.P.D one of the results is second hand smoke... So the next time you are thinking of having a cigarette, cigar, or a pipe, keep this thought in mind it may not kill you but later on kill someone you truly love... Brother Glen

Smoked to the glory of God? Good grief. He and Moody went back and forth criticizing each other, Spurgeon criticized Moody for going to the movie house and Moody criticized Spurgeon for smoking.

Hey! I have an idea, let's light something on fire and intentionally inhale the smoke from it. Hey! Then let's call it for God's glory!

After that let's snort some cocaine to the glory of God!

Just a little bit in moderation...

This made me think of this video by Blimey Cow, except instead of it being a teenager rebelling against their sheltering parents, it's a grown man rebelling against his x wife and looking for something (applause, permission, admiration???) from the people on BB.

I grew up in tobacco land. It's been a significant source of income for me in the past. Smoking tobacco habitually is terrible for your health. It doesn't take a genius to see that. It doesn't take a genius to recognize the horrible consequences of habitually imbibing snuff. A lot of the kids around here are hooked on it. Tobacco is addictive. Period.

But, my brothers and I always enjoy a good stogie at Christmas along with some exotic beer that someone has brought to the get together.

Are you thinking of growing a beard, too? That's the natural progression of 30-something Calvinists. A little alcohol (usually craft beer), a cigar, then grow a beard. You can be a Reformed Male Stereotype.

I grow them fast and have them from time to time.

Okay whatever you say mind reader.
no not mind reading, just expressing my thoughts. That is what happens when you put things on a discussion board. Also am I wrong to say that you are not a teenager rebelling against his parents?
Am I wrong to think that your ex wife's church was against drinking and smoking.

I like a pipe and cigars, but haven't smoked either for a few years now. I was an avid pipe smoker between the ages of 16 and 22. A . few times I have gone back for "a few," but an old addiction stays with us; if I smoke 1 it's like I never quit. I think I would only start again if I were diagnosed with a fatal disease for which smoking then wouldn't have time to kill me first.

Every time I see the title of this thread, I want to ask:

Smoking Cegar's what? What does Cegar have that I'd want to smoke? Is Cegar a nice guy who allows other people to smoke what he has?
