    In summary, "In Him" or in Jesus or in Christ or in the Beloved or in the Lord are found many times in the New Testament.

    The phrases are used to show to or upon whom people place their faith and devotion, so "on" and "upon" Him (etc) seems a good choice to translate this idea.

    The phrases are used to show or describe a characteristic or attribute of Him and to refer to a provision of the Lord. For example "in Him was life."

    The phrases are used to show a person abides within the body of Christ. Within Him makes the locative message clear.

    And the phrases are used to show a person being placed into Him. These have the preposition "eis" and most often appear to indicate believing into Him, thus the action of God to transfer a person into the kingdom of His Son.
