Tom did well after surgery Monday and Tuesday. Today he had a stroke. Prognosis is unknown. He is in critical condition.
From his son Tom Jr.
Update 3-12-15 Tom Butler Senior. Well, today's news is almost as good as yesterday's was bad. Dad had improved some by late last night. But the improvement today is remarkable! He slept much of the day today but around 4pm today a speech pathologist came by to assess his ability to swallow. Being able to eat and drink is an important factor in being able to be transferred to rehab. He passed all of her tests with flying colors. He spoke clearly and was able to answer all of her questions regarding his status. While he still has limited movement most of the signs of the stroke have disappeared! Barring further complications he should be going to rehab in the next day or two. For those of us who believe in the power of prayer, our prayers are being answered and the difference in Dad's condition over the course of 24 hours is nothing short of Miraculous. Thanks to all of you who have and will continue to pray and support Janice Butler, Gail Robinson Butler and me as well as the team of folks who will be helping Dad through the recovery process.
Well that's great news....only I must have missed that this was a stroke. I thought it was the result of a bad fall. In any event he is a great brother in Christ and my prayers are with him and family.:godisgood:
It was a result of a fall but just yesterday he had a stroke and was in critical condition (it's just a couple of posts up). Praise God that he is overcoming this setback and is doing well!! Whew!!! :godisgood:

Tom is doing fine with therapy. It will take up to 18 months. I am sorry about the gap in time, but had to move my mother in law into our house. She is 91, but that is another thread.
