From the OP article:
"Because there is a law such as gravity, the universe can and will create itself from nothing. Spontaneous creation is the reason there is something rather than nothing, why the universe exists, why we exist," Hawking writes.
This is completely without logic.
How does gravity exist in nothingness?
What would be acted upon by gravity in nothingness?
Expect his obit. soon...
A lot of the virulent anti-ID'ers were saying that same thing in those debates a few years ago, and to them, "not necessary" basically equates to "probably doesn't exist, and virually disproven by the scientific method".Previously, he wrote that the laws of physics meant it was simply not necessary to believe that God had intervened in the Big Bang.
He's had Motor Neurone disease for nearly 50 years now. Average life expectancy for MN is two years. I have a theory that the hand of God has something to do with his extraordinary survival time with MN and that that hand may now be withdrawn since apparently the Nutty Professor considers he doesn't need Him anymore...
If gravity is a law (creation) of God then why would it require anything? Look at it this way: do the 10 commandments require people?
But the Ten Commandments required a law giver first.Look at it this way: do the 10 commandments require people?
In the beginning, God created something that caused the Bib Bang or whatever without God's micromanagement.
