You cannot know for sure where he went...

Yes, Hank. Christians can be sure. That is our belief. Maybe you don't share it, but it is a Christian idea that only those who are "in Christ" will be spared judgement and obtain eternal life with Christ.

I suggest you all reserve eternal judgment leaving it to God alone.

Hank, you are scaring me. Do you believe that Jesus is The Way, The Truth, and The Life, and that no man comes to the Father except though Him?

For Stephen Hawking, Nobel Prize For Physics Remained Elusive

Many say that Hawking was a brilliant man. God says he was a fool.

It is very sad indeed when one dies and goes to hell. That judgment was made by God not us and is revealed in His word.

Your post doesn't deserve an answer,
Because you can't honestly answer it?

because of its childish nature,
And what was childish about my question? (Other than your response, of course.)

but for the sake of onlookers, wrong about what?
Wrong about your knowing for certain of his eternal destiny.

Here, I will quote myself to remind you of the question.

Do you know Dr. Hawking's heart and do you know what may have transpired in the last few days of his life?

My step-father was a death bed convert after 50 years of off and on discussions sometimes more off than on.
Sometimes with anger.

He yielded to Christ the night he died.

There can be a seed planted decades before it germinates via the power of the Holy Spirit.

Wrong about your knowing for certain of his eternal destiny.

I base my statements on his testimony.

Are you confident when you tell a person that if he believes in Christ that he will be forgiven and have eternal life? I am. And I am just as confident when I say that Hawking, in his unbelief, faces eternal torment and condemnation.

Confidence in the gospel assumes the faith of unbelievers, and Hawking was one who knew of God's creation more than most of us ever will, yet he closed his eyes and ears to what revelation he had, as evidenced in his life and words.

So, still arrogantly assuming you know his heart and the changes which may have occurred in the last 3 years since he said "some form of intelligence was actually behind the creation of the Universe."

We cannot do otherwise but that. Still, a good tree produces good fruit. The fruit he produced was more unbelief.

Exactly, and we should not be shy about it. We are not holding the gavel and condemning him. We are simply believing what God has promised. I wish no man condemnation, but I take God at his word when He says that He will condemn.

Do you preach a gospel of ID or of Christ?

Those who live and die without Christ are lost. If we can confidently tell someone that if he places his trust in Christ he will be saved, then we can confidently tell them if they reject Him they will be lost.

These aren't my ideas. I read them in the Bible (ESV, not KJV, sorry)

Still, you do not know for sure Brian.

Still, you do not know for sure Brian.

I know only what he put forth, and I judge according to that.

It strikes me that some here aren't confident of Christ's teaching when they are shy about the harsh reality of Hell. I wish no man Hell. If I could prevent it for all, I would, but to deny my Lord in His warnings regarding it for those who reject Him, I will not do.

So you have been with Dr. Hawking every minute of every hour of every day for the past 3 years so you know in fact that he did not come to believe?

Amazing. I had no idea you were omniscient!
