He was a good, godly servant of Christ. He became a friend here on the BB, and was talking about getting together at the next national meeting of the Evangelical Theological Society. We'll have to get together in Heaven now.

Didn’t he also serve as a sheriff for a time ,,, in San Diego for a while?I found this from some years ago when he retired:
First Baptist of Spring Valley, California
"Pastor Thomas Cassidy
Thomas Cassidy was born in Altadena, California but brought up in the Midwest. Following high school, he served in the military until 1972. Two years later, in 1974, he was saved through the ministry of First Baptist Church in Rockford, Illinois. God called him to the gospel ministry shortly after and he moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota to attend Central Seminary from 1975-1978."
"In February of 1976, while in seminary, Tom married Bonnie Hanson. In 1978, they returned to Rockford, Illinois, and served with the Windsor Baptist Church in Loves Park until the late 1980’s when they relocated to California. They ministered at the Fundamental Baptist Church in Escondido (San Diego’s north county area) until Tom was called to pastor First Baptist Church of Spring Valley in September of 1985."
"Thomas Cassidy...led the church to new growth in the 1990’s with a high attendance of over 120. San Diego Baptist Bible Institute was started and during the 20 years of its existence, over 50 men were trained for the gospel ministry. Spring Valley Baptist Academy was started in 1988 and grew to approximately 60 students."
"Tom and Bonnie have purchased a home in the beautiful Rio Grande Valley of South Texas where they intend to thoroughly enjoy their retirement years."
Texas?Didn’t he also serve as a sheriff for a time ,,, in San Diego for a while?
Texas?
Thanks.IIRC, he was a San Diego County Deputy Sheriff.
Thanks for letting us know of the passing of Brother Cassidy. I never had the opportunity to meet him personally, but had the privilege of knowing him and interacting with him many years here on the Baptist Board. The Board is a blessing in that regard, allowing opportunities to meet other Christians and Baptists we would not get to know otherwise.
Yes, that is very brief when so many things might have been said.I wish the obit was more complete.
I don't know, who does he have to pick on in heavenI'll miss him, but he doesn't miss us.
I don't know, who does he have to pick on in heaven
That's why its called Heaven, he doesn't have to pick on anyone... Why can't we all just get along?... There we will!... Brother Glen.
That's what I Meant
