I have Boost Mobile and use my phone mostly for phone calls but texts sometimes as well. I spend around $10 a month total on it (it's a pay as you go plan). My husband has the same plan but he doesn't really text - just uses the phone and spends maybe $7 a month. My two daughters pay for their own phones and they pay $25 a month on Virgin Mobile to have unlimited text and web access, and 300 minutes. They never go over on the minutes ever.
We have a cell phone primarily for use in an emergency. It is very seldom used. We have used it several times to call 911 to help people broken down on the road. All-in-all I consider a cell phone an electronic leash.

Business account with multiple lines. I'd definitely like to have it cost less but the prices are the lowest I've found available and lower than they currently offer...they're honoring the original contract prices so that's good. Otherwise we might have to live all huddled together in our cell phones. :1_grouphug:
Ann....whats boost mobile & where to you buy it? Lastly, what service provider do you use? Sprint where I am is terrible & Virgin Mobile isnt much better. The only reliable service is Verizon & I hate that I pay 75 a month for basic service but no dropped calls.
Boost is similar to Virgin Mobile. I got mine at Target. They are the service provider but if Virgin Mobile doesn't work where you are, Boost may not work either since they use the same towers. Maybe check into some of the other prepaid services near you. Actually, I think Verizon has a prepaid service too - let me check.....

Yes you clearly see the delema ..... Sprint towers are sparse in NJ. Even ATT has dead spots so we are slaves to Verizon. Hopeful that Tampa FL will have better service....certainly better weather. Supposed to snow again tonight!
I know. I rode my friend's horse on Tuesday and his arthritis was acting up so I knew that we had weather coming. This one should be fun but I think we on Long Island might just get a coating. Fun stuff!
Have you looked into any of the other prepaid phones? When are you going to Florida?
You're asking the wrong guy. I've had one for about three years and I can count on one hand the number of times I've used it.
I don't even put the battery in it unless I know I'm going to use it (and never while I've travelling, only after I've stopped somewhere).

We have completely ditched our land-lines in favor of cell only. I carry a Blackberry Storm II and my wife carries a Motorola with Android operating system.
We both have data plans and full web, plus, of course, apps.
Currently, I have a Bible app that lets me search over 20 translations, several GPS apps that track everything a hand-held GPS unit would track (speed, distance, elevation, set-points, etc.) and also track fitness (walking, running, riding, etc., plus calories burned during the activity), two different apps that tell me what is in the area (handy for travel) such as fuel, restaurant, price of gas, stores, etc., an app that tracks my food and fitness (livestrong.com -- AWESOME fitness site, free!), several games, and some other utility apps, maps, etc., that are very useful.
I can do forums like this from anyplace I get a signal, or from wi-fi if there is no phone signal.
We PREFER Verizon. They work EVERYWHERE. Most of the other plans find their owners with dropped calls or no reception. Ours works, even out in the middle of the woods on off-road runs. Cost may be a tad higher (not really with a family plan) but why pay for what you don't or can't use?

Smartphone here on pay as you go; I spend around £10 a month on it for which I get 300 free texts plus unlimited broadband for that month but my account only gets charged for the calls I make or if I exceed that free limit, hence my account is several £10s in credit ATM! So I hardly ever make calls on it but do text a lot, surf the net and send and receive emails.
OK, I have two cell phones. One is a Tracfone LG600 (has AT&T sim card). I have been having battery issues with it for the last couple of months - it does not keep a charge and a new phone is cheaper than the battery. I have service until May on this phone. So, I bought a Kyocera Loft (aka - blackerry junior) at Kmart for $39. I have the $25 a month Virgin mobile plan. I am not sure I like Virgin's coverage in this area, but I really like the phone. I text and use a lot of internet when I get the chance.

Verizon, family plan, 5 phones. 3 smart phones, 2 regular. Mine is a Samsung Fascinate android phone. I do email, some texts (I'm real slow!), web, apps, and even some calls. My deacons (and family) can reach me any time, anywhere. Can't imagine how I got along without one years ago. I do technology.
I don't get enough use out of it for about $52/month. However, I never make a long distance call on my landline phone any more; it is cheaper on my cell. That + checking stocks once a day after I have left the house are my main uses thereof.
I use an overnight charger in a place I may overlook it, which I did once on a day when there were 6 tornados already reported touched down in the area. So I decided that day to make an acronym to remember my cellphone and other basic things I have forgotten at least once before: DIG-COST.
D = Door-- make certain all locked.
I = Internet-- check that it is disconnected.
G = Glasses-- be sure I have sunshades and bifocals.
C = Cellphone-- make sure I have it with me, turned on unless battery low.
O = Oven-- toaster oven (only working oven), be sure it's off.
S = Stove-- be sure all burners turned completely off.
T = Temperature-- heat or air conditioners off or readjusted.

That's great!!
All I do is to put my keys next to the phone and everything else in my purse. The rest of the stuff I've never really had a problem with...

TracFone. I use it for about 600 to 800 minutes per year. I think it can do text but I don't know how. Likle all other phones I have tried, it seldom works at my house.
