Oh dear, taxes, taxes, taxes. Well, I'm thankful that hubby will take care that business.

It's another sun-filled day. Juli, my ddd, has a piano lesson this afternoon, so she & I will be out and about today.

Tonight we have a missionary to the Northwest Territories (NWT)speaking. I have to get up at 3 tomorrow morning, so I probably won't be going (to hear the speaker, not to NWT; though ddd would love to go visit her friend up there). Edmonton is pretty far north, but NWT is much "norther." ;)

Well, have a good day, y'all. I'm going back to bed here soon.

We are getting a wintery blast today. Ice, sleet, snow, but I think we are only on the edge of the storm. Should not be too bad where we are.
I just went outside and it is raining now.

I'm working on paperwork, laundry, but husband is home. That makes it a special day!

Morning y'all! It's a balmy(?) -23C (read -9F here) outside. It feels that cold inside. I'm freezing! Hard to believe it was -16C when I got up at 3 a.m.

#3 son wants me to drive him and a friend to Chill-Out. That's the annual winter camp held up here in chilly Alberta every February (this is the 13th year). This year's theme is "Wild & Wooly West." They should have really nice weather for the camp this weekend. Only problem is they've had to change the venue at the last minute & I have no idea where it is. Should be interesting.

Have a good day, everybody!

It snowed about 4" last night, then early this morning went to a really cold rain. Had to take Tony to work and the road are all slush, and standing water. A little slick, but at least not frozen. I had to stop at the grocery, and in front of the store was 4" of slush surrounded by 3" of ice water, and I stepped right in it, go in and coming out. My feet are cold. I think I'm going to make doll dress now the rest of the day.

Disgusted children here. A massive snowfall, and it is still coming down. However, it is such a wet snowfall, and just barely freezing temperature, that the roads are clear and there is school. The ice went around us.

However, they sledded in the park after school yesterday. Most churches here did not have services last night.

Today, laundry, working on taxes and college forms, cleaning out a closet.

Today will be like most days for me...prayer & thanking the Lord, savoring that 1st cuppa coffee that's so good, freshening up & getting dressed, packing his lunch & seeing the Mister off to work, morning devotions, speaking with most of my children, feeding the varmints, making "yo-yo's" for another quilt, answering snail-mail, getting supper taken care of early, trying to reach my goal of 10miles(which will not be met today,'cuz of tornado-watch), visiting on de BB, etc...just doing granny-things.

Hi, Cherry5, Donna, Karen, GrannyGumbo and all those who are reading and not posting.

It is a wonderful day here in the neighborhood. We had a little ice and a little snow, but most has melted. The stores have been stocked with all kinds of things for snow and ice. They may have to keep it until next year.

I just received great news from my 12 year old grandson. He has accepted Christ as his Savior and will be baptized Sunday. Praise the Lord! This is the grandson whose mother died two years ago.

Must go compare Supper.

My husband would catch my mistake!

At least it was spelled correctly.

My dog kept me up most of the night. I think he may be fine, now. We couldn't determine what was wrong with him. I wonder what the vet would say if I took him in and said he just isn't acting like himself.

I guess dogs can get out of sorts also. He has been out this morning...checking the entire yard. Maybe something was in his yard last night.

I'm trying to push myself out of the house to go to the Beauty Shop. I feel very lazy today....and that is really lazy when I don't go to the Beauty Shop. I'll probably go if I think Muffin is all right.

Hope you all are having a wonderful day.

I'm going to be facing a big change in my life soon. I'm not posting it yet because then I will have to face it. It isn't anything bad or to do with illness, but it will take some adjustment. I am thankful for Ed.

I think it is soooo neat & sweet to see husbands & wives posting together on the BB! My Mister walks as far away from this 'puter as he can get, and I would too...'cept I love "to gab" too much!

Granny, Ed introduced me to message boards, but I found the Baptist Board first.

It is a lovely day here in Oklahoma, sun shining, but 21 degrees....Oops, the timer is going off in the kitchen...Time for breakfast.

The Lord led me to the BB & tho' I've seen folks post links to other places, I am satisfied here, for now. I think the BB is a prime example of what people are really like in the "real" world.

Today is "wash day" for me, so I must get at it. I've been looking for a used wringer-type washing machine, but haven't found one locally.

When I was a little girl, mama used an ol'black washpot outside & when the washing was done, she poured the water into the garden. We didn't waste anything; I still try not to. ;)

Hope you have a wonderful weekend. Looks pretty here, but cold.

Hello Everyone,
I thought I would check in to see how you all are doing. Wow, GrannyGumbo is back! Great to see you!

Right now we have SUNSHINE! I know it will go away soon, but I keep looking for the Rainbows. I tried to take a picture of one as I was driving my car across a bridge with the window rolled down and the rain pouring in....I got a picture of the van that just happened to go by. Oh well, a picture is never like seeing the real thing anyway. God sure makes pretty stuff, huh?

Have a wonderful day!
God Bless.

Hi, Purple Lady. Good to see you. Good Morning everyone! My question for the day. What happens to a house over the weekend? I have no children to blame. I can't blame the dog because he is confined to his own room on Sundays.

But it will take me all day to get things back in ship shape or at least house shape.

Yesterday, was a wonderful day. We attended our grandson's church and witnessed his baptism. Had lunch with two of grandson's friends, Son in Law and granddaughter. Then Bible Study at our church last night.

Today, I will be doing the laundry and cleaning house. I wish I could find a housekeeper to help me, but haven't found one yet.

Thankful

I'm going to post this here rather than start a new thread because I don't want to start a debate, but I had my eyes opened yesterday.

I believe in traditional church services, not high church, just semi-formal traditional services. The church I attended yesterday is not a Baptist Church, but their doctrine is sound and the beliefs related are the same as mine.

They do not have a piano or organ or the song leader who leads the music. They use recorded accompaniment and a keyboard. No song books. Words on a screen. The worship leader was a woman and was very good. They had a dramatic skit that told about being a servant of God. The sermon was about Baptism. I really felt the Holy Spirit in this service. He was there and He spoke to me. In the future, I will be more tolerant of our youth who want to have the praise and worship services.

The service was long, but all children and youth were very attentive.

I have always been apprehensive about going to a strange church and usually felt uncomfortable, but I was very comfortable in this church. We were early so we were asked IF we wanted to go to Sunday School or the worship service. There was no pushy or overbearing people who tried to tell us what to do or ask us gillions of questions about ourselves. We were welcomed!!!

I know, I can hear you now. All churches welcome their visitors, but this was different!

As I said before, I am just relating my experience and not trying to debate or influence anyone. There are many threads on this board about church services.

Good morning, everyone!

Today is a beautiful, Sun shiney day in Oklahoma.
I can hear the birds singing. Spring must be on the way. We have been extremely fortunate this year...a dusting of snow and ice...a little cold weather, but we may get a storm tomorrow. It was like spring yesterday and maybe again today.

Today is a painting day. I am working on a seascape. They look so easy, but I find them even more difficult than portraits....no maybe that is exaggerating a little. I can paint portraits, but then I don't know who they are.

It is easy to paint eyes, noses, lips, but making them look like a certain person that is another story.

Got to go the Schwann man is here.

Hello all.
The last few weeks I have been very busy with a new job that I am working. It is a research job that I am doing from the home, while the kids are in school.
I have also been stripping wall paper off of a wall in preparation to prime and paint it, getting things ready for the trip to Disney for Dh and I, working on my son's IEP for school, getting my daughter transferred to a different first grade class, plus all the other wife and mother stuff.
Today in Jacksonville it is cloudy. We are expecting rain later today and the temp is currently 56.

Hi, Dina. You are not much warmer than we are. It is 55 degrees here. You have been busy.

I'm working on new paintings. I completed my nativity scene for next Christmas. Actually, it is a nativity scene, then Christ carrying his cross and then the ascension into the heavens.

I also completed my seascape, I think. Have to wait until the paint dries to see if it needs more touches.

I am going to do two florals and a landscape next.

My grandson was selling some of my paintings on ebay, but he is moving away. My mother loves to give them away, but I think all her friends have one. I do have a friend that sells them through her shop and then there are some in the closet...Maybe our youth will have another garage sale.....I just paint for the fun of it.

I spent about five minutes in the library looking at the shelves and decided to wait another day to work on it. I think I need to take all the books off the shelves and start over.

I think I have talked myself into a nap.

See you all later.

Thankful

I've been really busy today. I took the dog to the groomers, dropped clothes off at the cleaners, made a deposit at the bank, mailed our tax information to our accountant, then I treated myself to a trip to Michael's!

Michael's is a craft store. I decided if it is going to stay winter....I'm going to have spring flowers in the house... They were having a 50 % off sale on silk flowers..I discovered they also had paper palettes 50% off. Then I used my 40% off coupon for a beautiful wreath for the front door.

Stopped by the dollar store to get blank video tapes and found some really cute things.

Oh I forgot about the lady bug that I bought for the yard.

I only treat myself to a trip to Michaels about every two months or more.

The only thing that I could find for my husband was a beautiful flower arrangement. I know he will love it!!!!

I am redecorating the house. I change paintings for the seasons as well as flowers.

I also got to talk to my mother this morning! She has been out of her room when I have called.
She seemed confused about streets. Not sure why she needed to know the name of a street.

Got to go pick up Muffin. He will be so beautiful for about 1/2 a day. He doesn't know that he is supposed to be a "show" dog.

Betty...tell Muffin he's a dog...he might like to know!!! :D

I had a rather so-so day at work...lots of "last minute" things to do, but it's over and I have Friday off!!! Hooray!!!

However, LAST NIGHT, in a Bible study class I am taking, we were talking about materialism and "idols" we have. I thought about an "idol" I have hung on to, and now plan to get rid of!

Both of my parents are at home with the Lord, and I have their wedding china. They married in 1942, so the china has been around 60 years or so!

One of the saucers broke into 3 pieces when I was moving it to my house several years ago. I just discovered it about 2 months ago as the china had been packed in a box.

I have held on to the broken saucer because of sentimental reasons. I thought about trying to super glue it back together, but it would never be the same.

One of the ladies in the class shared about some dishes she loved that broke. She was heartsick, but she realized they were just "things". I can't describe how she told about it, but it was a very powerful testimony. After hearing what she shared last night, I have decided to “let go” of the broken dish because it is just a material “thing” (an idol?), even though it has special meaning for me. It has been hard for me to just throw it in the trash, but I now know that’s what I need to do! (I guarantee my mom is NOT thinking about the broken saucer!!!)

However, rather than throw it in the trash, I have decided I may send it to Elnora so she can see the pattern first-hand and maybe identify it!! Then SHE can throw it away, and I won't have to!!! :D

It's a great Bible study, I am thoroughly enjoying it, and obviously, I am being convicted of some things!
