KenH said:So your side never counter-attacks? Or if you side attacks no one with a different viewpoint should counter-attack?
And now you are comparing those who disagree with you on this board to drunks and people who use drugs?
So what do you suggest our policy be in that region, if not Israel, then who, Syria, Iran, and Palestine?Rufus_1611 said:The United States of America had far greater blessings well before the nation state called "Israel" ever existed. However, the curses and judgment we are currently under have increased as our blind support for this antichrist nation state has increased. I'm not saying there is a cause and effect there, but this idea that our nation will be blessed according to our support for another nation state, particularly an antichrist one, is absurd. Our nation will be blessed in accordance to our level of repentance of individual and national sins.
Since labeling folks who don't bow to a foreign nation state as replacement theologians seems to be the easy out, let me state for the record, I am not a replacement theologian. One would have to ignore far too much scripture to believe that God does not have a plan for the Jewish people and to God be the glory for that plan. It makes sense that they were the group who He dealt with towards the beginning of the book and it would make sense that He will deal with them at the end of the book. However, Christians don't need to support antichrists in order to make that happen and we do not need to commit national suicide in that effort. Also, please consider which comes next? Does Jesus Christ enter Jerusalem first or does the Son of Perdition? Thus, if we are to support the political and governmental machinations that will bring the Son of Perdition into their land...who would we be supporting?
Secretary Chertoff correct that there is no substance?

If we base our policies on the principles this nation was founded upon and maintained upon (prior to the 20th century), we should get our own house in order and leave the middle east alone, as it is none of our business.saturneptune said:So what do you suggest our policy be in that region, if not Israel, then who, Syria, Iran, and Palestine?

"Peace, commerce, and honest friendship with all nations, entangling alliances with none." - Thomas Jefferson
"In the wars of the European powers, in matters relating to themselves, we have never taken part, nor does it comport with our policy, so to do. It is only when our rights are invaded, or seriously menaced that we resent injuries, or make preparations for our defense." - James Monroe
"He who is the author of a war lets loose the whole contagion of hell and opens a vein that bleeds a nation to death." - Thomas Paine
"We Americans have no commission from God to police the world." - Benjamin Harrison
"I think the United States must be humble, we must be proud and confident of our values, but humble in how we treat nations that are figuring out how to chart their own course." - George W Bush
The American people send their wives to work, have to work past April to pay for their Federal "income" taxes, and sell their posterity into bondage via national debt so they can pay for things like...
A Conservative Total for U.S. Aid to Israel: $91 Billion—and Counting
Cost of Iraq war could surpass $1 trillion
Bush Pledges $230 Million in U.S. Aid to Lebanon
U.S. gives $43 million to Afghanistan
U.S.: Aid to Pakistan up to $50M
The U.S. gave Pakistan nearly $3 billion in foreign aid assistance between 2001 and 2005.
Let's be friends with these nations but let's stop bombing and funding them and let's place our military back in the business of defending this country rather than offending against others.

James_Newman said:Wouldn't a terror 'spectacular' really be counter productive for the 'islamofascists' at this point? With the American popular opinion being overwhelmingly against the current foreign policy, what would 'Bin Laden' and his 'al qaida' friends really have to gain from a spectacular terror attack, unless they really do want us over there indefinitely...
KenH said:These discussions make me very, very glad that we have separation of church and state in this country(I know that those words aren't in the U.S. constitution but it is a de facto principle that we have operated under since 1776).
KenH said:How about our federal government keeping its nose out of other countries' business when they are not a threat to these United States?
KenH said:From the article that started this thread:
"A secret U.S. law enforcement report, prepared for the Department of Homeland Security, warns that al Qaeda is planning a terror "spectacular" this summer...
Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff said today on ABC News' "This Week with George Stephanopoulos" that the United States did not have "have any specific credible evidence that there's an attack focused on the United States at this point." "
So which is it? Is there substance to the threat in the law enforcement document or is Secretary Chertoff correct that there is no substance?
It looks like the government on all levels still can't get its act together almost six years after the attacks on 9/11/2001.
