And once you fully understood that the so-called gift-of-tongues you had was not the one described as authentic in the Bible - how then would it be.. how could it be.. that your gift of prophecy would be "legit" given that those supposed messages "From God" never informed you (and so - spared you) from the error in regard to tongues that you finally had to discover on your own.

Nothing you have said in that post would indicate that the gifts are false.

That is an example of a claim that could be true - but would need more information.

The Seven-Day-Adlibbers are as much a cult as IHOP is, what with their false doctrines of annihilation of the souls of the wicked, "investigative judgment", that one isn't saved if one doesn't speak in tongues, & their following the hooey of the false prophet Ellen White. Please don't leap from the frying pan into the fire, Steven!

Yes, you should reject anyone claiming to be the Messiah now. The REAL Messiah will return in great power & glory as He said. His return will be seen by EVERYONE; there'll be no doubt of who He is.

Spiritual gifts? A Christian may receive some supernatural gifts or he/she may not. Not ALL gifts of the Holy Spirit are supernatural. I believe He empowers preachers to preach, teachers to teach, pastors to "shepherd", treasurers to have financial ability, the groundskeeper, the ability to do his/her job well.

Stick with what the BIBLE teaches, & you'll do well!

Not to worry, Adventism has nothing tempting me to go that path.

I would say that any enhancement of their ability to teach or serve or preach is in fact a supernatural boost by the Holy Spirit, even if our culture refused to see such. I do know what you are talking about though.

that's good. We should all remember that Satan has a "scratch" for every "itching ear".

The office of the Apostle/Prophecy ceased after death of John, so EW does not qualify!

    Remember that the maj
or purpose in this life will be to exalt Jesus Christ and glorify Him, so ANY church that claims to have miracles/healings, revelations, or prophetess, would be one that is focusing away from Jesus and back on themselves, and the Spirit glorifies Jesus!
