Among the many problem with this board one of which is the lack of a emphasis on Lordship salvation which I am a proponent of. Why do most on this board dislike LS? Why do most on this board dislike strong LS advocates like Washer, Mac, and Comfort?

You dislike and think LS is unbiblical yet how many here are reading the Gospel According to Paul? The latest Mac book arguing for LS?

Until he stops letting Macarthur do his thinking for him?

John MacArthur Announces New Commentary On His Previous Commentaries

SUN VALLEY, CA—Pastor John MacArthur has already released an extensive array of commentaries on the Bible, but the popular Bible teacher isn’t done yet. According to a statement released by Grace to You ministries Wednesday, MacArthur is set to release a full line of commentaries providing insight and study notes to help believers study his previous commentaries.

Titled The Complete MacArthur Commentary on John MacArthur’s Previous Commentaries, the 320-volume set will include word studies, grammar helps, and over 5,000,000 explanatory notes to help readers unlock the richness of MacArthur’s previous Bible commentaries.

Oh the Irony that the poster who wants to be praised for exercising liberty to drink and also down plays his own sins by calling them mistakes now wants to know why LS is not taken seriously? Maybe because the biggest advocate on this board doesn't actually practice it.

BTW: I'm a huge fan of Paul Washer, have an entire book shelves of MacArthur books so I am not a critic of those guys.
Just know that line if attack is coming so figure I would throw that out there.

Because if Lordship salvation were true (the way it is proposed by its adherence) it would leave salvation impossible as it brings in a hint of legalism under the guise of "obedience to Christ in totality as necessary for salvation (and let's be honest, total obedience sounds good and born again believers want that, but we fall short in total obedience)." Also, it lends to unnecessary "fruit inspection" to the point where we judge people's salvation under the guise of "ministry efforts." So in essence, we take our eyes off Christ and focus in on what others are doing or we naval gaze ourselves into the role of Pharisees or self condemning toddler Christians.

also, I believe it blurs the line of justification and sanctification.

Hope this makes sense :)

I had Mac's book on my wish list, then read the Amazon preview and realized it was the same ole Mac. ... hard nosed, in-your-face, no compromise, 'I'm right, your wrong".

I understand the basic point he makes in each of his books on the topic and get there without the strong emphasis on the doctrine of works.

His mean-hearted, dogmatic presentations are a real turn-off to me.

If there is so much wrong here why do you post (honest question)?

What sort of emphasis on Lordship salvation would you expect on a 'baptist' board?

Furthermore what do you hope achieve? If you are so convinced of the position and the serious errors of your brothers and sisters in Christ where is your heartfelt reasoning and passionate pleas from scripture for biblical understanding, where is your 'letter to the Galatians'?

I see. Thanks for your explanation. At least you have a reason.

I never said denying LS was a serious error. I said its simply bad theology. Oh and bye the way I am a member at a baptist church that accepts LS.

Thanks for your explanation. Perhaps you have not read the books supporting the doctrine, because LS does not say you need to be totally obedient to be saved as that would be works salvation. Or did I misunderstand you?

But yes fruit inspection is a common behavior with LS advocates. But then again we need to test the fruit of others!

I do not have time for your jokes. That website wastes so much time with unnecessary jokes.

maybe that would be due to most of us here not really seeing that doctrine. at least as expressed by those you cited, as being found in the bible?

Something about saved by Grace alone, thru faith alone?

I agree with you on this, as while i agreed with much of his stuff on say charasmatic chaos, His striden tome seemedto be like him saying that ONLY his views are legit, period!

Jesus makes Himself your Lord. Not the other way around.

HankD
Yep. Jesus is already Lord. You can't make Him anything. Or keep Him from making you anything.

Lordship Salvation is works salvation in disguise based on a terrible failure to understand Romans 10.

The genuinely regenerate person will have a Family likeness to his Heavenly Father. But that is not of us. That is of God. "Lordship Salvation" is the modern version of Pharisaism. Salvation is all of God, none of me.
