The King James Bible is the preserved word of God in English and is the final authority in all matters of faith and practice.

The King James Bible is but one English translation of God's Holy Word and at this point is out of date as regards the English language - there are far better versions now available.

Begun in 1604 and completed in 1611, it comes after the much respected Douay-Reims (New Testament) version which was first published in 1582 in Reims, France.

We no longer use "Thee" or "Thou" when speaking to each other and versions of the Scriptures in today's modern language are much easier understandable to the believer.

What is the RCC distinctive of being born again to become a child of God - salvation?

Jhn 3:3, 7 KJV 3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. ... 7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
We ARE all born-again who've seen the waters of Baptism. In the Sacrament of Baptism, we die a death unto Christ and come up out of those waters a new creation, free of both Original sin and personal if we have any. We are incorporated into the Body of Christ by this and then are children of God by adoption thru the redemptive death of Jesus Christ. This is part of the reason Baptism can only be done once. It leaves an indelible mark on our souls that nothing will alter. God bless. Ginnyfree

The sinner becomes a saint the very moment a saving profession in Christ is made, and babies cannot do that!

That's only your opinion, and not supported by the Bible. The Great Commission states clearly the mission and purpose of the disciples of Christ. They were sent by the Risen Lord to Baptise and teach the whole world, not an exclusive few. They weren't told to ask for a profession of faith prior, a minimum of belief in Jesus was all that was needed. After being Baptised, the neophytes, if they were of age or older were given specific instructions and admitted to the Mystery of the Eucharist when ready. Ever here of the Didache? You should read it. It is most helpful. And before you even try to exclude children and even infants from the waters of grace, consider the Word of our Blessed Lord: "Let the children come unto Me, ...for such belongs the Kingdom of God." If Jesus said do it, why wouldn't you? God bless. Ginnyfree.

The Sda is in the same boat as the church of Rome, both are Cults!
Neither church teaches and holds to the real Gosdpel of Christ!

Notice carefully how Yeshua slanders from ignorance and lacks the intellectual integrity to even read and respond to the posted Catholic apologetic's expert on Jesus' teaching about the new birth. My Bible-based post on the Catholic position on salvation by grace through faith exposes Yeshua's overly simplistic Baptist position.

Do you deny thet the Church of Romes teaches thatwater baprtism itself cleanses all original Sin, makes the Infant regenerated/born again, and is then sealed by the Holy Spirit? That the church teacxhes that one cannot be saved by just grace alone, and faith alone, as paul Himself wrote Romans and Galatians about, but teaches that one cannot be freely declared justified by god until gotten to a spiritual state thru taking of sufficient Sacramental gracings to be actually good enough to merit salvation? If the bllod of Jesus and the Cross were sufficient to atone for all sins, why would there be a purgetory even needed?
Roamn theology is not found in the canon scriptures, so the church made it up from extra canocal non inspired books!

Not slnaders, unless you consider telling what Rome actually believes concerning salvation is!

what does God require you and me as hell bound sinners do to be saved by him? NOTHING, just believe unto Jesus as your Lord, and you shall be saved! Trust just in His merits, and nothing that we can do, no water baptise, no confirmation, no church memborship etc!

Nice to "meet" you Deadworm. Thanks for the good thread. I'm new here and having a bunch of fun so far. But I cannot invest a great deal of time as I'd like. God bless. Ginnyfree.

Yeshua, How can you deny the Great Commission? Did Jesus send His Apostles out on a fool's errand? If it was not necessary, why is it called the Great Commission? You make no sense to me. Can you explain your position better? God bless. Ginnyfree.

Yeshua, you mix up too many different points to answer your questions. The Bible teaches Baptism is necessary for Salvation. That is a 2,000 year old fact. You can deny it, but that doesn't make your point true. As for you last claim against Catholicism, we preserved the Canon of Scripture thru 2,000 years. You wouldn't have a Bible if it weren't for the Church. All that we do is supported by Scripture, yet when this is patiently shown to others, they simply deny that the Word of God is valid at that point and begin to "interpret" into those Words, things that aren't there. God bless. Ginnyfree.

Baptism saves you not, as per 1 peter 3:21 . and the church of rome did NOT create the canon, nor the scriptures, the Council merely agreed to what was already accepted as canon for quite a while before that, and then the church put in extar biblical non inspired books to get its doctrines from!

You deny the Word of God because it fails your narrative. ""Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you and to your children and to all that are far off, every one whom the Lord our God calls to Him." Acts 2:38-39.
If Baptism is not necessary, why did Jesus Commission the Apostles to do so? God bless. Ginnyfree.

Sola Fide is a false doctrine invented by men. It is historically less than 500 years old. "Sola gratia justificamus et sola fide justificamur" - that's a quote from Melanchthon from the year 1554. The rest of the 5 "solas" weren't a part of Protestant theology until after 1850 or so. You can believe whatever you want regarding faith, but that still is only what you think, and not what our Bible teaches. God bless. Ginnyfree.

Ginny, most commonly the argument will be 'What about the thief on the cross?'. The following was taken from a paper given to me in an RCIA class and I'm not sure who produced it, but I think it gives a good answer to what I suspect is coming next.

The thief was saved. We readily agree with such, for the text plainly teaches such. But the circumstances surrounding the salvation of the thief are far from those anyone today will experience. The thief was in the physical presence of Jesus Himself. But the apostle Paul stated clearly that “last of all He was seen of me” (1 Corinthians 15:8). Thus, no one today can expect to see Christ until all men stand before Him in judgment (2 Corinthians 5:10). Jesus Himself stated that “the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins” (Matthew 9:6). It is clear though that after His ascension to heaven to the right hand of the Father that matters were different. Christ confronted the sinful Saul in the road to Damascus. When Saul, stricken with the grief of his sin, cried out, “Lord, what wilt thou have me do?” he was not told he was saved, as was the thief. Rather he was told to “go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do” (Acts 9:6). And by the way, Saul (Paul) himself tells us that he was told to“arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins” (Acts 22:16).] Thus we see that yes, the thief was saved, but not in a manner in which we today can expect to occur. Things are different now. All one proves by looking to the thief on the cross is that Jesus, while on this earth, chose to save the penitent man in accordance with the will of God the Father.
