Looks like I’m feeling especially generous this Christmas season!
The Trinity before and after the Incarnation
In the beginning, the Word was with Father God (long before Jesus was born).
BEFORE the Incarnation, the Word was the Second Person of the Trinity.
AFTER the Incarnation, Jesus was the Second Person of the Trinity.
Looks like the Second Person of the Trinity changed from being fully God to being a God-Man.
Who plus Mary produced the Baby Jesus?
The Word came from heaven and “became flesh”, i.e. Jesus (John 1:14).
The Holy Spirit came upon Mary and overshadowed her (Luke 1:35).
The Holy Spirit caused the virgin Mary to become pregnant (Matthew 1:18).
The Baby Jesus was conceived BY the Holy Spirit (Matthew 1:20).
So, that’s why Jesus was to be called “the Son of God” (Luke 1:35).
So, I’m asking again … What’s up with Jesus’ double “father”-hood?
How did God choose His elect?
Romans 9, etc. makes it abundantly clear that God elected some (and not others).
I.E. He chose to pour out His incredible gift of grace upon some (and not others).
Ephesians 2:8-9, etc. say that none of man’s works were part of His decision.
And this is because: before the foundation of the world,
God saw the condition of everyone’s hearts …
and IMO, on this basis alone, He chose some (and not others).
Do the several OT verses, which say that God desires to live with
those who have humble and repentant hearts, explain everything?
Merry Christmas, to y’all
