Wow! What will you do Thursday? Just mingle.
At our elections no one is allowed in unless they are voting, or working with the election.
People stand outside the election halls (mine is at the armory but they are closed due to the war...so I go to this church) Anys, they hand out business cards with there name on them and remind you who they want you to vote for.
I already know before I get there. But I always run into someone to talk to.

Greetings to all. Just stopped off for a coffee break. My, wot changes in here.......Wot is that noise I hear? An addition already?
Sorry about missing the devotional. This does not mean I did not observe morning devotions. It was in 1 Sam 21.....The Consequences of a lie. David went to visit the priest, Ahimelech. Ahimelech was suspicious that David was alone,,,,at least his servants were afar off. When the priest asked about why David was alone, David lied saying that Saul had sent him and declared that it should be secret, and no one told.
Even when told in innocence a lie has devastatng consequences. In this case, David was trying to protect the priests and his servants. His good intentions, however, caused their sure death as Saul had them all slaughtered.
Sometimes what we don't say has the same effect as what we do say. It was the spy who gave only a half report and thus brought this downfall.
Prior to this David had benefitted from the leftover bread in the temple. It was reserved for the priests, but could be dispensed to show God's mercy over the law. (Compare this with Matt 12:3; Mark 2:25 and Luke 6:3) Do we take the bread of life and withhold it from those outside our fold because we fear wot they might think of our religion?
David was shown the sword of Goliath. It had been stored as a reminder of God's blessings. Yet David did not allow this to register in his heart. To get this full story, we must read in 1 Sam 22.
God has given to us the Sword of the Lord and the Bread of life. Will we share them without fear?

Sounds like the contruction project may turn out to be more of a hastle than blackbird expected. He needs to make a few friends on the city council to make it a little easier.
Blackbird, after just recently completing a church construction project maybe you should rest for a while before jumping into another project. You don't want the neighbors complaining and forcing the Coffee Shop to close down. rsr seems to think there is quite a bit of resistance to the idea. Maybe you could bribe the city council by inviting them over for some of those big steaks like you made for the workers at your church.

Thank you, Rod. It is always a delight to drop off and see how the Coffee Shop Gang are doing. It is like family, isn't it?
We dug the test holes, did a percolation test and started drilling the well for the one house now on the draughting board.....er computer. The drawings are well under way,,,,,,and then,,the owner decided to flip the house......mirror image...which sounds simple, but........... Thanks for asking. This particular building is a 45' x 72' Italian Villa design. That means multiple roof projections and rooms. The heating will be all infloor, as is the plumbing,,so no room for errors.....once the concrete is inplace, that's it.

Hope you all don't mind me posting this here.
While your having your early morning coffee, or even a late night cup tonight, could you say a prayer for my oldest daughter. She is leaving at 6:00 A.M. tomorrow morning for her 8th grade Washington D.C. trip. Will be back very late on Friday. I would sure appreciate the prayers for her, for travel mercies and safety while she is there.
She is so excited. It is going to be quite an experience for her and I'm glad that they are still going. The other local schools around here canceled their trips to D.C. because of the War. So glad that her school didn't.
Thank you for the prayers. And have a cup for me. Remember, full strength and plenty of half & half!

Thank you for asking and the prayers! By the time I was going to reply, you all were already on the coffee shop #3. I didn't want to be that behind and leave people wondering what I was talking about. Guess all that coffee drinking in here really keeps you all on your toes.

Thank you for the invitation Sherrie! How did you guess? I am a very shy person usually. My husband does most, if not all of the talking. But that's what makes us work so well together. My biggest problem is that I'm not a person who responds quickly. I go over everything in my mind and then respond, sometimes it may take me a while to get back to you. And I think that everything I say or write has to come out perfect. I'm working on it! I can be to much of a perfectionist and it really hinders me sometimes. Someday I just might have enough nerve to even fill out one of those posts that ask you to tell something about yourself. I've wanted too, but there goes that shyness again in me!

Yes, Sherrie, we can learn so much from the Old Testament stories. I loved to preach from the Old Testament in my hay days. There are so many lessons in the flaws of men to help us garner new strengths in the Lord.

Jim, I have really enjoyed reading your daily devotions, they are something to look forward to each day with my coffee. Thank you!
I'm signing out for the night. Got to get to bed early tonight, have to get up and get ready at 3:30 A.M. in order to get daughter to school at 5:00 A.M.

ForYourGlory, you can sit next to me the next time you're in. I enjoy sipping on my nose fizz and catching up on all the Coffee Shop chit-chat. There are many you may not see post here, but they will have pulled up a chair and read when they can.

I'm not exactly sure, It's more than what I could reach while standing on the highest rung of my (6 ft.?)ladder. I think I'ts about 18 feet. The thing is, I think I would have to tape off the ceiling unless I was going to paint it too. I understand painting ceilings is tricky. I bought an extension rollar. I'm worried about that part of the wall right as it connects at the ceiling. My walls are textured too...that's the way they do them here.
I'm scared of scaffolding too, I'm actually afraid of heights. I could paint a regular wall, and step up on a regular ladder, but that's pretty high.
