Well little Bubba you are always welcome in Dexter. Good luck on your interview. Relax while on it. Don't be tense.

Sherrie...lol when i first saw my name I thought "oh no, what have I done?" then I scrolled back and saw the rest of the post. I don't have any lectures on Fridays, so it is meant to be my reading day, but today I am really tired and can't concentrate too well. I was also wondering where willow is, haven't seen her post in a while? Hope everyone else is ok. will look in later and maybe have a hot chocolate. bye for now,

Oh Jim, Considering I live in the desert, depending on rain would more than likely inhibit my being able to see out of my windshield at all. Besides...cars don't stay clean with 3 wild children. The finger prints alone make me want to wear a bag over my head so as not to die of embarassment if spotted on the road by anyone I know...driving the greasy finger mobile is every mothers reality.

My father would die if he saw my car and how it is treated. I can still hear his words ringing in my ears. "Don't stir the dust"

Sherrie, I am still here. It has just been really busy the last few days. I think everything is working for now, so hopefully things will be back to normal next week.

It rained really hard last night and the wind knocked down trees and branches all over. I don't know if there were tornados or just VERY strong wind. There was no electricity this morning in some areas of the city. Our housing addition is relatively new and all the wires are buried so we rarely have power outages. We did lose power this morning but only for about 10 minutes.

Sue, if you really don't want to handle the fish with your hands, I think they make catfish grippers to hold the fish. Here is an example I found at: Cabelas.com

You can use needle nose pliers to get the hook out of the mouth.

Betty & I are still recovering from
our respiratory infection.

Local TV is on continious weather watch.
The high level low pressure area
is right over us. Storms west of us
going south; north of us going west;
east of us going north -- in the eye of
the storm

Good to hear that Ed and Betty are on the mend. God bless and lift your spirits high.

Wisdom. No children at home now, but grands will be here soon.

However, I have five dogs to transport in my truck. ALways two or three at a time. I must comb the front seat at least three times each week. The odd time I turn the hose pipe on the body and cap. There is a lot of dust in the countryside and gravel roadways.

Now wifey.....Hmmmmmm she is a terror for packing her motorcar with all that stuff you are supposed to dispense along the motorways.....ahem.....We must clean her car out each week just so she can still get in it. She also washes the motorcar each week.....impressing the neighbours I think.

Cheers,

Jim

Sherrie,
It ain't like I'm ignoring ya or anything BUT--as an employee of the Coffee Shop it is my duty to wash the coffee cups--I've broken a few of 'um between the tables and the sink in the back and the "boss lady" says one more mess up and its out the door for me!!!!

I about can't walk and carry empty coffee cups at the same time!!! So--I am having to spend a lot of time in the kitchen--and she's even gotten on to me about hollerin' out to you guys from that little open window where the waitress puts those ticket/order slips there on that little thingy that spins round and round and the slips are held there by sophisticated clothes pins!

The corn is lookin' gooooooood! Should be tosslin' in a week or so--finally got a good rain on the patch! The tomatos are all bloomin' and some have tomatoes about the size of a golfball on um.--got okra comin' up---unbelievable that some of the board folks have never had the experience of eatin' okra--lands sake, my wife has a good recipe that I call "Resteraunt" style--I think I gave that recipe to Katie Double Zero Seven a long time ago---I promised Laurenda I'd send her a recipe for Cajun gumbo--and I ain't done that yet--that gumbo recipe has okra in it!!!!! And I have Mississippi Pink Eye Purple Hull peas comin up---so all in all--the garden looks good this year!

Write more later!

Your buddy,
Blackbird

LOL Blackbird...do you have to pay for all them breakages? Have you never thought of using a tray?

You really make me laugh...it can be an effort sometimes to translate your posts, but they never cease to amuse me.

I have got tomatoes in flower, and stawberries coming on, we are pulling the rhubarb and it looks like it is going to be a good year for the soft fruits. The loganberries look well laden as do the raspberries. The gooseberries and blackcurrants won't probably do much it being their first year. Looking forward to the jam-making season.

I haven't got the email yet. Have you already sent it? If so I may have accidentally deleted it but I would be glad to look at it if you resend it.

Oh Blackbird, that's alright. Sherrie fixed me up with a receipe for Gumbo. It was so long, I am quite frankly scared to try it. Nice to see you again. I always enjoy reading how expessive your posts are. By the way...my son and I share the responsibility of washing the dishes...he often brakes them too...but with him it's more to show protest to the chore. You aren't protesting by breaking all those coffee cups are you? ;)

I'm so tired...I am beat I tell ya. I had so many errands to run today I need a nap. But with a 4 year old at home and my other two due home in the next 20 minutes...naps just aren't something feasible.

A yawning icon would be more appropriate...but we must make due with what we have.

Laurenda, did I see you mentioned living in the desert? My grandparents lived near Apple Valley. I spent many summers out in the dirt!

Never fear, Blackbird, we'll git ya sum plastic cups, k? Then you can keep your job!

Woo Hoo Guys! Jim, Rod, Blackbird---Thanks so much for all your help (you too Sherrie)!

I finally got someone on the phone who is sponsoring the fishing derby. He said we did NOT have to use live bait! So I went to Wally World and got some of that smelly catfish "Power Bait".

They also told me that the judges would be taking the fish off the hooks so I didn't have to buy gloves!!!

I can even cast the rod for Stephen if he can't get the hang of it; but I cannot touch the pole after that. Sooo, I guess if he catches a 50 pounder (yeah-right), I'll just have to grab him around the legs to keep him from fallin' in!
laugh.gif

I'll tell you one thing. I will sure sleep better tonight now that I don't have to worry about touching all those yucky things!

The policeman from D.A.R.E. are going to be there helping us poor squeamish women out and serving lunch.
thumbs.gif

They ask if I knew a guy named Blackbird and asked if he was gonna show up. I told them, "Not when he finds out cops and judges are gonna be here and it's against the law in IL to carry a concealed weapon!" :D

I will check in tomorrow evening and let you know how much fun we had!

Blessings,
Sue

Carolyn, Apple Valley is about an hour and a half further inland than I am. I'm between Acton and Lancaster in Pearland/Palmdale. I've been to Apple Valley a few times, I think the climate is pretty much the same, although Apple Valley doesn't seem to get quite as hot for some reason.

People usually think California is all movie stars, mansions and beach front property with swaying palm trees....
laugh.gif
It's also Joshua trees and tumbling tumble weeds and desert winds. And very dry.
laugh.gif

For anyone not familiar with what we are talking about...the Mojave Desert is in the same valley that I live in.

Kind of neat talking to someone who knows a little about where I live. ;)

Sue...so glad you got all fixed up.

Well it has been a rough day, getting bashed after bashed, but all and all I feel pretty good! Got my second wind, and God is Good. When you see it like that, nothing matters. Just my blessed Savior!

God Bless

Bro. Blackbird:

Congratulations on your new business venture, which is sure to be a success. As a long-time purveyor of fine angling accessories and supplies, we are delighted to have you join our little circle of ichthophiles.

But we also know it can be difficult to scratch out a living on night crawlers and spinners, even if you have some ininerant preaching and a fair tomato crop, so we've decided to invite you to join in our network of independent merchants.

Not only can we provide discounts on everything from minnows to marlin mounts, we also offer something and added dimension that your customers, from our research, will enjoy.

Yes, with a minimal investment, you can become a franchisee of Bubba's Bible College and Bait Shop, one of the fastest-growing businesses of its kind in southern Mississippi.

Yes, we shall gather at the river, not only to stalk trout but also to earn valuable credits toward our degrees. (One of your customers, from Oklahoma, already has several of our degrees — including Doctor of Divine Obfuscology — and has pronounced himself eminently satisfied. References are available upon request.)

We hope you will take this opportunity to join us; the cost is minimal, the rewards great.

Chancellor and Lurologist, Bubba's Bible College and Bait Shop
