THE DIET THREAD #02

Kathy~yes, you are reading it right!---Actually, it's more than 150#! My dear brother who gave me this 'puter, challenged me a few years ago to lose 100#, at least. (He wanted me to get back down to my youthful weight of 110#.)
love2.gif

That's what I weighed on my wedding day, but nine months and 7 days later, I weighed 180, when our first daughter was born. After that, it was all up-hill. Having 4 children born in a 5yr span, also a 'miscarriage', I just never had the strength to recover...excuses, excuses, I know.

When I couldn't do anything anymore, like play in the floor, or climb on the roof, things like that, I knew I was in trouble. By then, the damage had been done & I was found to have high blood pressure. That's the last time I went to a dr. I've since been trying to "wean" myself from the prescription meds by subbing natural stuff.

My brother said he'd give me $100, which seemed like $1000 to me, and I took him on. My sister bought a treadmill & at first I could only do 2-3 minutes! Then I could do 5, then 10, soon 30, etc. But I hated being "glued" to one spot and I hated to 'exercise'!

So I figured there had to be a better way! And there was! I started "cutting back" on what I ate; instead of 3 biscuits, I ate one, instead of 2 eggs, 1, etc. And I learned not to eat after 5(6 at the latest). I switched from real sugar to Splenda. I cut out all fats at first and then slowly added some fat. Now I eat things I want, but in MODERATION.

I also discovered the wonderful world of walking. We live in the country with lots of dirt roads, so it's kinda hard after a rain, tho' fun! I'm still heading for that goal of 110# & if I don't make it, well, I'll be the perfect weight when my brother sees me in Heaven.

Tatertot is right, looseing weight is going to cost, and it may be for the rest of your life to keep from gaining it all back.
Kathy, God is interested in you and your life, there is nothing in your life He is not interested in. God has helpd me break free from bondage of over eating and eating wrong kinds of food(potato chips and junk foods). God wants you to be free, freedon can only be found in Jesus, turning over to Him your weight and eating habits. Lots of prayer and asking God to reveal to you why you want to over eat,and why you can't seem to get serious about learning to eat the amounts that are right for you, the right foods. We usually have a reason we do it, even thought we mught not know why, thats bondage, we can not breakfree from a bondage we will not recognize and want to be free.

Trotter, Tried the Cabbage dump again this week with Ground Beef this time. Believe I like it better with Deer Sausage! But then it's good both ways.

Wife made a Patriotic Cake for the picnic on our deck on the 4th of July. Whipped cream topping and raspberries and blueberries - beautiful, but also tasty!

Dr. Bob:

I make a flag cake that looks just like that, only I use blueberries and strawberries! BTW, I thought you were going on a diet???

Trotter:

We have Cabbage Dump once a week now and it tastes different every time!

Raspberries are easier to handle, smaller and fit on a sheet cake easily.

BTW, she had 13 stripes, but had 52 blueberries - for each state, including the next 2 (New Columbia and Puerto Rico).

How is everyone doing?

We didn't gain any weight while we were on vacation, but I gained about 4 pounds during my recent illness. I always seem to gain weight when I am sick. Doesn't make sense!!

I am beginning to feel great so back to serious dieting. Only 11 pounds to go and then to maintain!

Have a great day everyone! It is finally summer here!

We always seem to jump right into summer from fall. Hardly ever have a winter anymore, nor spring. But sticky summer stays! Autumn is my most favourite season of all.

sisThankful, I really think you're gonna make those 11# & keep it maintained! (And stay well, ok?) ;)

I've lost 8# but it is coming off very slowly.

It is much harder to eat low-carb with Brent here. I am now cooking three times a day instead of once...

I dug out the ol'cabbage soup diet...and I've already lost 5#. I will hopefully survive it this week; it's awful! Also, I've started back walking in the very early a.m.

Well, we went on vacation and I almost broke at the Dixie Stampede (Pigeon Forge) but when I got home and weighed, I had actually lost a few! Total is now 73 pounds.

Hey Sue! [I was reminded of the Cabbage Dump when I made it]. Compared to the old way of making the diet soup, I've found a better way to "enhance" it.

Instead of just plain Lipton Onion Soup Mix, I used Beefy Onion & some new boullion cubes. I left out the salt it said to use. I don't understand how this diet works, other than it's weird...but most days no meat is allowed, therefore I felt I couldn't use the CabDump.

Tomorrow will be a challenge: all bananas & skim milk(& the soup). I had to resort to drastic measures with all the extra water my body is taking on. When you go to bed & wake up 10# heavier...time to take action! If I can just make it thru' Sunday...

I AM surviving without chocolate-something I read agitates edema...but it's very hard! >>> KEEP GOING, TaterTot!

Granny: Is this a 'new' diet or have you used it before? What is the name of it or what is the regime?

If you only have to stick to it for a week - maybe I could do it!!!

If you think it would work for me (jumpstart), please email me and give me the details. Thanks!

Tater....YOU are just TOO good! Keep up the good work!!!

Thankful

Tatertot, that is great!

We have entertained so much company this summer that I think we are doing good to just maintain!

Since May 19th we have had one houseguest after another. No end in sight until the first of August (maybe)

Granny, I had forgotten about the Cabbage Soup Diet. It does work and after awhile, the soup actually tastes good!

Sue, we need a jumpstart also, but I am going to wait until all our guests leave.
