THE DIET THREAD #02

I went to the doctor yesterday and I DID find out why I've been so tired and sleepy lately. I was blaming it on the lack of carbs, but...for the last nine days, I have been carrying around three degrees of temperature!

He found a cluster of mastoid, fibryotic cysts and put me on strong antibiotics for ten days (I hope the pain lets up soon).

I am scheduled for an ultra sound, mammogram, and possible biopsy after I finish the antibiotics.

I covet your prayers. This is not a good time for me to be down sick, my boys need me.

Thanks;
§ue

Congratulations to you, Eutychus, for your decision to, first of all, take charge of your body and your health! Secondly, for realizing that it takes a permanent change in one's eating lifestyle to lose the weight *and* keep it off. And thirdly, to set up and reap the rewards of a regular exercise program. It's inspiring to see that your wise choices are providing such positive benefits to your life. Thanks for sharing your story! --Jed

Meet the Maker's Diet

A new diet program takes its roots from the Bible and focuses on organic food.

Next time you are craving a snack or unsure what to prepare for dinner, ask yourself, what would Jesus eat?

Still unsure? A new diet called the Maker's Diet promises to clear it up for you. This 40-day guide is built on principles first described in the Bible.

Just as long as there are no locusts and wild honey!!!

I TRY (often unsuccessfully) to do something similar - just eat things that are not pre-packaged and are natural. That is really hard to do.

OK I've lost another few dress sizes in the last few weeks. i'm not doing so well on the carbs but I am doing AWESOME on the exercise. I've bought myself a mountian bike and I'll tell you I get winded going uphills but it's getting better. There was a time I would feel like I was having a heart attack but, not now.

I also bought one of those baby bike seats for my 2 year old so I could take her with me when I go exercising.

How on earth did you do THAT???

I am not really trying to stick to any kind of a diet right now - too many things going on.

I have however, still lost a few pounds and an inch or two by delivering 90 papers every day and working 'the corner' 5 days a week! :D

I missed class last week, and theres no meeting tonight, so I won't be weighing till next monday. I am doing good on eating, and have increased my excerise, got about 22 pounds to make my end of year goal.

I am still working on my goal as well. Have lost 80 pounds, - gone from size 24 pants to 14. I feel so much better. I am taking a Jazzercise class and walking some too. My friend and I were walking 5 miles until we joined the Jazzercise, but we like the aerobics better!

I went "home" over the weekend and put on my wedding dress!(almost 10 years old) I had to "suck it in" - but I got in it!

And I'm with Donna - I dont even miss most of those old foods I ate all the time. Fries, chips, doughnuts - I just eat healthier choices.

Yall keep it up!! We WILL get there one day!!

I have "heard" that it works. It is similar to Atkins (on which I have lost 80). From what I understand, the main difference is you can eat more fruits and you start adding back straches a little sooner than Atkins. I think Thankful tried it for a while. She might enlighten us!

It IS more liveable than Atkins (which is really bad for your health). Not as good as the North Platte Diet, devised by my wife!

Of course, 10 meals a day on a cruise just blew OUR diet!

Now now, Dr. Bob. There is no solid proof of that. If the "diet" is followed according to the "rules", it is healthy. Many people use it as a license to eat bacon eggs cheese and steak all the time, which the book explicitly says not to do. You don't leave off the starches forever. Where I am in it, I can have everything added back into my eating plan. (Well, except the fattening junk foods I used to love)Even bread. But moderation is the key.

Atkins does not teach moderation, but teaches to eat high fat. Read it on their site a few months ago and posted it here. They see no need in low fat,or moderation in eating fat. We already know what eating high fat foods will do to the human body, we already have proof of that.

Donna, our son in law had 3 cheese burgers and a chicken breast for lunch the other day but since he used low carb 'Atkin's' bread, followed it up with a low carb candy bar as a reward! WHAT????

I'm with you! Moderation is the key.

The Atlanta Journal had a report about Atkins being bad for you in the long run but I didn't read it.

well, I am not going to argue with anyone. What I have read on the website and in the book leads away from the "candies" and encourages moderation. All I know is that is has worked for me. My doctor is very pleased, and I am too! I know it doesnt work for everyone, but it does for this chickadee!
