The Disciples of Christ and cremation, what does the Lord say about it?

Ashes to ashes, dust to dust.
Cremation isn’t unbiblical, it simply was not the practice of ancient Israel.
God chose Israel to display his glory to the world.
If Jesus was cremated, the resurrection story wouldn’t have happened as it did.
Other cultures, Greek, Roman, Nordic, Indian all practiced cremation.
It’s a good thing we don’t practice burial like the Jews of Jesus time.
They placed their dead in a cave or underground room for the worms to eat and to rot.
After a year the eldest son would collect the bones and place them in a bone box (ossuary) where ancestors lay.
There are a few places in the Bible where cremation takes place.
One place it is mentioned is at the end of 1 Samuel (32) and the beginning of 2 Samuel (1+2).
Saul and his cohorts were cremated after being desecrated, beheaded and hung on the wall as a trophy for a few days by the Philistines.
I imagine the Israelite rescue team didn’t want to carry the rotting bodies all the way back home. So they carried what remained after cremation back for burial.

First, Ashes to Ashes, dust to dust is a man mad statement made at funerals when the burying the dead. Ashes to ashes is not ever mentioned in Biblical context. Only what God said to Adam, that when they die they shall return to dust from whence they were formed.
Now regards to Saul and his son's, the flesh was burned and then the bones buried, but that was NOT the normal way of burying the dead. This was a certain circumstance which needed their bodies to have been dealt with in that manner. It can NOT be used to justify cremation of the Lord's children as a free choice.
Now because the Pagan nation's practiced this tradition does NOT mean it should be used for God's Children.
And the rest of your "opinion" is just sad......

I totally agree. Note this was in response to those using the fact of burial in a tomb or grave being used to deny other means of handling bodily remains of believers. I am not a fan of reading more into scripture than what it actually teaches.
I am what is termed a "Vietnam Era Vet" having served during the war. However, I was never in combat or even in a combat zone, having served from 1965 to 1967in West Germany. But yes, my Drivers License says "Veteran."

It would seem you ignore the overall written word of the Lord's on how the Nation of Israel in both Old and New did portray how the dead were taken care of.
It just keeps amazing me the underhanded way you men justify your sense of "following the Lord's word", when you only pick and chose how YOU feel on what You desire it to say.

You are absolutely right. Cremation is an utterly pagan practice that has zero biblical support for its use by believers.
More vitriolic posts from the endless fault finder. I am not the one claiming the bible says not to cremate Christians. No such thing is found or suggested in scripture. So you make up false charges. Pathetic
I had cataract surgery but the bible does not promote the practice. Must be a huge sin. Ditto for my heart surgery. The mindless arguments of the anti cremation crowd are boggling to behold. Why worry about how we are buried, rather than how we live? Isn't the anti-cremation dust-up just another distraction from what the bible actually promotes?
What would happen at the rapture when "the dead in Christ" are raised.

So no matter how mangled our physical body might be, whether vaporized from an artillery blast or having turned to dust over the centuries, our All-powerful God will "raise" our glorified bodies as we join Jesus in the air.

As much as you want to believe that burial is a biblical practice,
...today's burial practices are more like the ancient Egyptian methods.
(think Joseph in the book of Genesis)
Upon our death, parts are removed by the undertaker
the corpse is cleaned, purified
Where it will stay entombed for the ages.then embalmed
only then is the body buriedthe face is painted
ritual prayers are givenit's dressed up in fancy clothes
the body is placed in a wooden sarcophagus.
then lowered into a stone sarcophagus.the body is placed in a wooden sarcophagus.
Of course eventually it will turn to dust...
The same state whether we are buried or cremated.
It happens to us all.
It's what you do with your life that matters.

What about the modern method of embalming (we know Joseph was according to Egyptian tradition, but what about having your blood drained and replaced by chemicals)?
