The Genesis Flood - A good read

Sure. (Gen. 1:2)

Quantrill
In a sense the earth before it appeared was flooded back in Genesis 1, as it appeared after the waters pooled around the land. The waters receded and the land appears.
This was the beginning of how the dry land appeared before which was just God and the Great Deep. The Great Deep is still there and appears many times in scripture.

The earth was formed out of water and through water as Peter says, so we know the creation is entirely different from what scientists say as to the nature of the solar system, earth as planets orbiting a sun.

Earth and Sun were made before the Stars. There is no outer space filled with other planets or alien life, that is an illusion. People can think what they want, but they will never go there to visit a place that does not exist like they think it does, too many science fantasy movies have influenced what they think is the universe.

The reference to scoffers is highly relevant today as to the true nature of things and how they came to be
2 Peter 3:3-7
New King James Version
3 knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, 4 and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.”

5 For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water, 6 by which the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water.

7 But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and [a]perdition of ungodly men.

"The earth standing out of the water and in the water" goes against every science taught truth about the nature of our earth....and the earth is still the same as it was made by God at the creation. The earth floats on the great deep. Under the earth is hell. Above the earth is heaven. And we are in the middle, like middle earth, our temporary abode.

What is the reason for this question?

The fossil record shows the flood was global. Having the same fossils and order on both sides of the Atlantic being dated from the Atlantic trench the same. Some 300 million years.

There was a world wide Universal flood, but was thousands, not millions of years ago!

The issue is over the dating. If Noah's flood took place millions of years ago it becomes a problem of interpretation, not that that global flood happened.
I suspect the data is skewd for the millions of years as it done for the geological time scale dating. One rock, one location for each age.

So am I also to understand that you believe there was plant and animal life before the 3rd day?
absolutely and why not, plants can live a day without sunlight as we see it now.
13 And there was evening, and there was morning—the third day.

and what about v13? before the sun, there was a morning. Suggests there may have been another Light Shining.

as in v3 before the sunlight there was another Light, God shown His Light upon the earth before the Sun was made.
3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.

Humans want to subject the world God created to rational thought. Science looks at what they rationally conceive to be truths much of which is based on assumptions from physical observations.

God though does many things in what man sees as irrational means. Holding to an idea that matter has behaved in a uniform manner from the beginning of time might make sense to a rational mind, but this doesn't make it true. Carbon dating and other methods of dating assume that there is a constant level of decay sense the beginning of time. There is a lot of information out there that shows these dating methods are quite faulty.

The problem is we are looking at the dating of progressive layers of now igneous rock which is understood to have pushed the continents apart over 300 million years. The flood fossils are the same fossils on both continents from the same flood.

It is assumed that it took over 300 million years. It's the assumption that I find inadequately supported by other assumptions.

. . . before the sun, . . .
I am of the persuasion it was the Sun on the first day. The fourth day the Sun was then seen as a distinct light with the Moon and stars as distinct lights. And the plants were not til the third day.

It does not say that though, there is the word 'then' in front of the verse. 'Then' see shows this to be a progression event.

The creation being a powerful supernatural event, there is no need to relate that to a natural way of thinking how things should be.

14 Then God said, “Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years; 15 and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth”; and it was so.

16 Then God made two great [d]lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also. 17 God set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth, 18 and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good. 19 So the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

No. The igneous on both continents to be the some 300 million years. Decreasing in age going down to the Atlantic trench with the newer igneous rock coming up.

I explained as I understand this. Sun as the source of light on the first day. See as the greater light on the fourth day,

The order of creation demonstrates the miraculous in that it makes no logical sense as we would understand it, like sunlight before plants. I think this is God's way of pointing out to mankind, that He created and designed it, not to let us think the creation occurred in a logical to us evolutionarily pseudo scientific naturalistic fashion as an explanation.

What is interesting to me as we study the story of the flood, that it is not just in the Bible that the flood is known... All cultures speak of a worldwide flood, now the names and those involved in it may change but how many witnesses do you need?... Also I hear those on here say, and brethren I've been here a long time, God wants ALL mankind saved?... Well if God wanted ALL mankind saved, why did he destroy ALL but eight when he destroyed the earth and ALL the inhabits on it the first time?... If God wants something doesn't God get what he wants?... God makes up his own family and no one stands in his way... The reason any of us are here today is because God showed his loving saving mercy to the first eight... Brother Glen:)
