Right, but is there a way congress can set it up that way, and agree beforehand? Seems you can't just take a whole bill and cut it up. If that were the case, Trump would not be talking about a future bill, he'd just do it to this present bill. But Trump is talking about asking Congress to allow it on a future bill. There seems to be a way to do it, if Congress agrees beforehand.

Congress agreed to it before Clinton did it and got slapped down by SCOTUS.
Trump should know this.
He should have just vetoed the bill. But he was weak, just like McConnell and Ryan.

McConnell and Ryan are worthless Rinos. Trump is rapidly losing my confidence. I think they just guaranteed a midterm massacre of the G.O.P.
Trump's not weak. He felt it was necessary to fund the military and government at this time. Otherwise he would have caved to the pressure.
He did cave. He didn't even try to hold democrats accountable.
For someone that considers himself a super salesman and negotiator, he showed zero confidence in his ability to sell the public on the fact that democrats were once again causing a government shutdown by not funding the military.

I think Trump damaged himself the most but all of this is correctable. Trump will be treated like Roy Moore when he's up again, meaning Republicans and any Independent that can't stomach the Democrat will just stay home unless he shows himself to be a MUCH better negotiator.

Trump has said he would have no problem letting the U.S. default on its debt. He's very good at declaring bankruptcy for himself and his companies so it's not an idle threat. Won't be necessary, though. Trump is not only a successful businessman, he's successful in cutthroat environments. He thrives on this stuff. He sees a weakness in China and will exploit it.
