Eternal life is also spoken of the "gift of God" in John 4.

10 Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.

11 “Sir,” the woman said, “you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water? 12 Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his livestock?”

13 Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.

Without the scriptures how do you know who Jesus is?
Answer the questions I asked you, one at a time.
Have you ever read chapter1 of the 1689 confession of faith?
Read it slowly, phrase by phrase. Get back to me after that.
Yes, but would answer hebrews 1"1-2 as God ultimate revelation to us is not in the Bible, but in His Son!

Salvation by faith as a gift of God is described in Ephesians 2:8

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.

So once again, eternal life (salvation) is called the gift of God.

The point of the claim of the OP is we do not know hebrews 1 unless God had them write it by special revelation.
Look at 1689...chapter 1.
Salty is going to add a poll to this, because I do not know how to do it,lol.

Yes indeed...it is a great eternal gift,in fact a promise to every believing one.
Where do we learn of such a promise?
How do we know it is a certain promise that cannot fail?
Who has made this promise sure?
How was it secured?
How is it attained?
Is a Great High Priest and mediator involved?

You are using human reasoning again. By referencing the London Baptist Confessions of 1689 you are appealing to human writings.

Before there was a Bible available it was known that the gift of God is eternal life.

So....can we love Jesus, and not His word?

Have you answered the questions I asked?

Itl, chapter 1 is on the essential nature of the scriptures in revealing God to man.
Men wrote it based on over 50 scriptures.
God has given gifted men to help other men,Acts 8,Philip/ Eunuch.

I took the poll, and answered 2, as in Jesus as my Savior, and the Holy Spirit for granting to me that eternal life in Christ!

I can respect and delight in the Bible, but my love is Due only unto God in the ultimate sense!

Great verse. Maybe a lost art to many?

Christ gift to us is eternal life... Gods gift to us is Christ!... Brother Glen:)

John 6:38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.

6:39 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.

And this one should be familiar Tony as you had a recent OP on it!

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Jesus sacrifice was the greatest gift. Without Him, The Bible would be a mere history book
How would you know about the sacrifice?
How would you know a sacrifice was required?
How would we know the sacrifice was accepted?

What is more important, the Savior or the book about The Savior?
No Sacrifice of Christ and The Bible would be worthless.
Without Jesus, we would not have anything to know about.

Of course all of these truths are great.
How do we know about any of these facts?
How would we know exactly what Jesus said?

Without Christ and His salvation there would be no need for scripture. Salvation is spoken of, in scripture as a gift as ITL has exposed. Scripture is never described, in scripture as a gift.
