Dr. E.W. Bullinger's Figures of Speech, pg. 534,
calls "that holy thing", there in Luke 1:35, a "Heterosis of Gender".
THIRD DIVISION.
FIGURES INVOLVING CHANGE*
I. AFFECTING THE MEANING and USAGE OF WORDS.
HETEROSIS: or Exchange of Accidence.
VII. Heterosis of Gender.
"4. The Neuter for the Masculine or Feminine."
No, he does not! Bullinger died on June 6, 1913. The word Heterosis first appears in print in 1914.
So. As you researched the world of literary publications to reach the conclusion that "The word Heterosis first appears in print in 1914", did you also include clicking the referenced link provided? Are you sure?
I read the referenced page (page 534) in Bullinger’s book and saw for myself that the quote, "Heterosis of Gender", does not appear on the page.
Nobody said it did.
The classification heading VII. Heterosis of Gender is on the previous page.
VII. Heterosis of Gender. Page 533.
"4. The Neuter for the Masculine or Feminine." Page 534.

... and the expression, “Heterosis of Gender”, makes no sense.
What do you know. Son of a gun. You don't say.
There is nothing more important to me than the truth, but unfortunately, some people passionately hate the truth.
Strong work.
Thorough investigation.
Don't you hate it, though?
Something just doesn't make any sense.
