Southern Decadence. The annual week long Southern Decadence convention was to begin 2 days after the hurricane struck. I can't describe what goes on during this event, which was welcomed by the Mayor for the third year in a row, because this is a family friendly board. But you can read about it on the web.

It has been known for years that the Mardi Gras is nothing but an orgy of sex, drugs, booze, witchcraft, sorcery, wickedness of every imagination, and are all a part of the history of NOLA. The city's motto has been "Let the Good Times Roll."

Well, there are no more good times in NOLA.

Now you believe in works salvation? You then must believe all catholics are saved.

I'm sure you have a link or source for these allegation, correct? I saw Bush during the Iowa caucas in 2000 profess is faith, so I will take his word for it.

Funny thing is, I've heard Jimmy Carter say similar untruths - that humans are basically good and that everyone is going to heaven. Carter's a liberal politcally and even more so theologically.

So if you're going to nail Bush on it, you gotta do the same to Carter.

Many Evangelical Christians in the U.S. say they are outraged over President George Bush’s statement that Christians and Muslims worship the same God.

The statement was made Thursday, during the joint press conference in England with Prime Minister Tony Blair. A reporter noted Bush has frequently expressed the view that freedom is a gift from “the Almighty,” but questioned whether the Bush believes “Muslims worship the same Almighty” as the president and other Christians do.

“I do say that freedom is the Almighty’s gift to every person. I also condition it by saying freedom is not America’s gift to the world,” Bush replied. “It’s much greater than that, of course. And I believe we worship the same god,” reported the London Telegraph.

Bush’s equivalence of the Judeo-Christian and Muslim gods brought reactions of shock and dismay from Christians in the U.S. Richard Land, president of the Southern Baptist Convention, the nation’s largest Protestant denomination, was quoted in the Baptist Press as saying the president “is simply mistaken.”

That's why I said that applying your statement would mean we should flee every city.

Let me try, one more time, to be clear.

A poster said that whenever God was going to send judgment upon a wicked city, he gave believers warning to flee. He then asked "when" such warning took place in the present situation with the hurricane.

My response to that was, and is, is that God does not need to physically send a messenger to warn us to flee from judgment upon a wicked city; we have His word - the Bible.

And if you want to turn it around with the excuse that every city is wicked, well, that's not true. New Orleans and those in authority welcomed, tolerated, and embraced wickedness. Not only did they do such wickedness, but had pleasure in them that do it. The Bible says their recompense is just. If you can't handle that, then I don't know how to console you.

The town that I live in, while I'm sure there is some form of wickedness in individual lives, would never welcome nor host the sinful festivals that took place in New Orleans. If my town did give itself over to such filth, I would take my family and flee.

 

Gershom, other cities have done and do the same thing as New Orleans. So are you saying no Christian should have been living in New Orelans? It seems that is what you are saying. I can name at least a dozen other places just as wicked. I think you are naive if you think New Orleans was the most wicked city in the US.

Well, your town may be a nice place, but most cities and larger places have a lot of bad stuff -gambling, homosexual hangouts and activities, gangs, murder, rape, etc. But a lot of people live in these places for various reasons. Are you saying they are disobeying God because they don't live in your town, or a town like yours?
