Interesting... Thoughts?

Thank you for the helpful link. It shows the fears some have...{Mr.Lemke} showing that they do not grasp the issue clearly. Those who worry about a split will wind up with a split because once people come to these truths they do not shrink back.

The people are growing tired of the shallow nonsense that has drifted into the church, and have rediscovered the biblical roots.

Anything with Al Moehler is usually a plus!!!

We named our son John Calvin....ain't that nice:smilewinkgrin:

We named our son : Justus.
Col 4:11
11 And Jesus, which is called Justus, who are of the circumcision. These only are my fellowworkers unto the kingdom of God, which have been a comfort unto me.

We all have our heroes...

I should add this sentiment too. I appreciate Archangel pointing this out. Didn't mean to sound abrasive in my above post. Sorry.

I will probably show this vid to my 10th grade class... they know I'm a Calvie, they think it is crazy, and I just smile at them. Since we talked about the sovereignty of God issue, we looked at a couple different views. I tried to get an Armie and Semi-Pelag to share their views, but they all declined.

As a journalist, I think Bob Faw's report was balanced, and captured the essence of the debate within the SBC.

Name-dropping: I met Bob Faw 25 years ago or so when he was with CBS News and we were covering the same story.

I thought it was also a good report.

There is "The New Calvinism." And they preach 'another gospel,' which Paul had something to say about in Gal.1:6-8.
As the OP stated they are torn between sovereignty and responsibility.
One can easily see that on this board.
Some lean so heavily toward sovereignty that they do not see any personal responsibility toward missions any longer. It is all in the sovereignty of God. He has already elect whom he has elected. There is nothing more we can do. Thus the lack of human responsibility.

They are confused as to what the image of God is. Since, to them, the image of God preludes the free will of man, then the image of God has already become a false premise to begin with.

There is so much more. New Calvinism is growing, but not because it is biblical.

With TULIP being so blatant and clearly being expressed in the scriptures, could we conclude the Holy Spirit is failing to teach this truth to the children of God seeing how most Christians simply don't believe it? Or, could it be that those who do not see the obvious are simply still blinded in unbelief and not Christians at all?

Your evaluation is quite problematic. Not every "New Calvinist" is a hyper-Calvinist--I expect you know that to some extent--so this is an intentional overstatement.

New Calvinism itself is not "another gospel." By flagrantly and falsely calling it such, you call into question the salvation of any and all who identify with the New Calvinism, something clearly against the rules that you are supposed to be enforcing.

Of course, if a Calvinist were to categorize some "New Arminianism" as "another gospel" you'd probably be raining down all sorts of "moderator" indignation. How can you presume to moderate us when you seem unable moderate yourself????

Why is it that my "foxes guarding the hen house" comments are almost always proved to be right????
