NFL Players Union Partnered with George Soros-Backed Groups to Bankroll Anti-Trump Leftist Advocacy Organizations - Breitbart

If you ever wondered why the NFL Players Association has never cracked down on their players, for disrespecting the flag and advocating leftist politics. It turns out that’s because the NFLPA is every bit as radical as their players.
In tax documents recently released by 2ndVote, a conservative watchdog group, we learn that the NFL Players Association (NFLPA) made a donation of $5,000 in 2015 to the Center for Community Change Action, a George Soros funded and adamantly anti-Trump organization.

Yet, that just scratches the surface of the NFLPA’s dealings and donations to the extreme left.

In 2013 and 2015, the NFLPA also contributed to the AFL-CIO’s community affiliate, Working America. This group, according to Open Secrets, contributed $1 million to defeat President Trump during the 2016 election. However, the group’s anti-Trump activities were not limited to the election. According to the Washington Times, “Working America has since mobilized against the Republican tax-cut framework, denouncing it as the “Trump tax scam.”

In a quote given to the Washington Times, 2ndVote described the apparent philosophy behind the NFLPA’s donations: “Clearly, ‘social activism’ by NFL players includes aligning with George Soros and other liberal organizations like Planned Parenthood in support of the left’s agenda.”

Up until this point, most of the NFL social activism that fans were aware of consisted of players kneeling on the field. Now, after that nationally televised statement of “resistance,” we get a glimpse of the social activism going on behind the scenes. Much of it, if not all, happening with the fan’s money.

Well, so far ticket sales down 31%, and TV rating also down, so think this is backfiring on them!

Anti-Trump = Anti-American radical extreme leftists.

Glad that's been cleared up. Thanks Breitbart.

The 60% of GOP primary voters that didn't vote for Trump will be happy to hear it.

This is a little dishonest. The piece is well sourced and backed-up.

The words “Anti-American radical extreme leftists” does not appear on the article.

And some of the groups mentioned could only be described as extreme left.....

Also on the list of donations, is the Center for Community Change. This benign sounding organization listed Planned Parenthood as a donor on its 2015 annual report. This wouldn’t be the first time an NFL entity has mingled with abortionists, or those with ties to them. The NFL’s partnership with the Susan G. Komen Foundation, who also donated to Planned Parenthood, has been well-documented.

It's dishonest to say the NFLPA opposes Trump because they gave money to groups in 2013 and 2015 that went on to oppose Trump in 2016. It's dishonest to speculate as to the "apparent philosophy" behind the NFLPA's donations.

Article insinuates that anyone that opposes Trump is an extreme radical leftist.

Again, I can't stand the NFL, the NFLPA, etc. but this is shoddy reporting. Guilt by association.

Might as well say that millions of Christians support radical left wing causes because their employer has a portion of their paycheck automatically donated to the United Way.

"radical left wing anti-American" is in the thread title.
"NFLPA... donations to the extreme left" is in the article.

So, if you donate money to a group that donates money to Planned Parenthood you are anti-Trump? Interesting...

TODD: You were pretty--you were somewhat defending Planned Parenthood earlier this week. It struck me that there was a time Planned Parenthood was not seen as a very political organization. Were you ever a donor to Planned Parenthood?
TRUMP: I don't know. I mean, I don't know--
TODD: It's possible?
TRUMP: But it's possible. I give to so many, Chuck. I give to so many organizations over the years. Hundreds of millions of dollars. And so I don't know. I don't think so. But it's possible somewhere--
TODD: It wouldn't have surprised you if you had?
TRUMP: Well, it could be.

Actually it’s in Mitch’s title. Yet you thanked Breitbart.

And if you hadn’t thanked Breitbart I wouldn’t have read the article three times looking for the quote.

Sorry I was so confused.

Nah, Trump never donated to PP:

Records Show Zero Trump Donations to Planned Parenthood PACs

but it's odd he didn't even know if he had.

That's a partial list. Since he hasn't released his tax records we'll never know.

From the article:
An initial Washington Examiner story last Thursday claimed the NFL was “feeling the ‘Trump Effect’ ’’ and cited as proof a 17.9 percent decrease in sales on New York-based online reseller TickPick on the Monday and Tuesday of last week ahead of Week 4 of the season. The company said the drop was far more than the 10.8 percent decline it experienced during the same period ahead of Week 4 a year ago.

But TickPick has only a small share of the total NFL secondary sales market and told the Examiner within the story that it couldn’t specify whether the decrease was related to Trump’s comments or other factors. TickPick spokesman Jonathan Gluskin reiterated Monday that: “We were clear on our end not to specify a reason for the decline.’’

Hilarious! These right wing publications are running with a flawed polling process--taking data from an outlier--and creating Fake News to try and prove their point.

Elsewhere:
The kneeling-related boycott of the NFL hasn’t fully materialized. Fox’s NFL coverage netted a 12.6 rating and 26 share, a 14% increase over its Week 4 coverage a year ago. The network broadcast one game nationally on Sunday and the ratings were about 20% better than CBS’ singleheader coverage in Week 4 of 2016.

Fox had the top-rated NFL broadcast of the weekend and its best singleheader telecast since 2015, the network announced on Monday.

I will not say that the controversy has had no effect. But there are other factors that may be at work.

Live television viewing, overall, is declining — except among oldsters, those presumably most offended by the protest. People are spending more time with their phones and other devices.

Lots of people — like myself — have canceled cable service, which removes ESPN from our options. My antenna also doesn't get ABC or, much of the time, CBS, which limits my NFL viewing. If I cared, but I really don't. It's good background noise, but I can do without it.

Some people have decided that seeing televised brain injury is something they don't need to participate in. This is borne out by the fact that youth football participation is declining.

Sports come and go. Baseball was once the king of the hill. Now no one cares until playoffs.

There are just too many other things competing for time and attention. Sure, your cheese heads will stay loyal, but most folks will move on to the newest thing, which may be talking about what you had for lunch.

I will continue to watch the NFL regardless. Been doing so for thirty years or so. And been through it through thick and thin.

Only some of the factors for the decline of the NFL have been mention, but an over-saturated market was, and that's probably one of the primary reasons.

Tonight's game, I tried to look for the empty seats and think I saw quite a few but can't find stats on the overall attendance for that game or anywhere else - not tickets sold, but people who actually showed up at the stadium. That metric would matter, and one thing I haven't heard people mention was the impact on fantasy football, if any. That was really popular up here at one time, and it looks like the Seahags are immune to any boycott, but that is supposed to be a regional thing, in most places, tv ratings are way down:

The NFL TV Ratings Page — Sports Media Watch

Even now, a Cowboy game will draw nationwide, the USA Today article was very misleading, they used one game and ignored all the others.

"TickPick, a seat ticket reseller, says that they’re seeing a drop in ticket sales of 17.9 percent. While there is a normal seasonal drop from week to week, last year it was only 10.8 percent. The drop this year is their steepest since 2014.

Another ticket reseller, TicketCity, says sales have plummeted by 31 percent."

Here's what happened to NFL ticket sales after protests

________________________________________________________________________________________
"The National Football League is feeling the impact of the "Trump Effect."

Ticket sales since he called on team owners to fire players who take a knee to protest the National Anthem have cratered.
http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/nfl-ticket-sales-plummet-179/article/{
The online ticket reseller TickPick told Secrets that sales have dropped 17.9 percent, far more than the usual Week Three fall.

From TickPick:

  • 17.9 percent decrease in NFL orders this week compared to the previous week.
  • Last year the drop was 10.8 percent in orders on Monday & Tuesday following Week Three games.
"We have seen a massive decrease in NFL ticket purchases this past week in comparison to years past. Week 3 seems to usually have less ticket orders than week 2, but this year ticket purchases are down more than 7 percent from this time last year," said TickPick's Jack Slingland.

"While we can't specify if this decrease is due to the president's comments, player and owner protests, play on the field, or simply the continued division of consumer's media attention, the conversation around the NFL this week has focused on the president's comments as well as the players' and owners' reaction. As viewers continue to abandon their NFL Sunday habits, both the number of ticket sales and the purchase price of tickets will drop," he told us."

A pair of U.S. ticket sites say that sales for National Football League games have taken a plunge this week amid controversy over athletes and teams protesting the national anthem at games.

Sales declined by 17.9 percent this week on TickPick, an online ticketing service, compared to last week, CBS News reports. Meanwhile, the site TicketCity has reported a 31 percent drop in sales.

TickPick CEO Brett Goldberg suggested that people have been turning away from football as a form of entertainment because of its involvement in politics.

"There are people who are saying that this is my form of entertainment and I don't want politics in my entertainment," Goldberg told CBS, adding that he didn't personally share that view.
