Might be a good thing to mention who different people are for the benefit of those who don't frequent the prayer forum.

Good to read the news, though.

Cheers,

Jim

Ah, in case Sheila is already in bed... Sam is their grown son and Mariel is his friend from the states. She has Sickle Cell anemia. Thanks for pointing that need out Jim1999.

We just finished a nice supper I made in the slow cooker. Sort of a chicken stew with big chunks of chicken and potatoes in a nice thick gravy. Very tasty. I was a good girl and had a small portion. That's all I ate today other than a tiny powdered donut with a cup of tea and vitamins for breakfast.

So, Jim tells me there's some football on tonight. Sounds like a good night to iron clothes ... or NOT! LOL

Top of the evening to you all!

At my job I've got one of those new Verizen cell phones - not only is it a phone - but it's also a two-way radio.

The only problem - I have to go on-line and list all the people I want to be able to talk to on the two-way part. It'll probably be good - when I get it all figured out!

Does anyone know this Dan fellow?

All the very best to you, Dan. It would be nice to have you posting regularly again.

Cheers, and God bless,

Jim

Sorry Jim.

Diane, thank you for explaining to Jim. Yes, I had gone to bed.

How is everyone today? It is very cold and windy here. I have been very tired and slow today. I have at last got my appointment for the memory clinic. It is early on in February. I don't exactly know what a cognitive assessment involves. Should be interesting. Rob has to come with me. (wouldn't be able to find it on my own anyway) LOL.

I hope everyone is having a good day. Good that Dan was able to pop in. I will look in later. Trying to resist having a nap here.

God Bless

Sheila

Hi Sheila,
It was not a problem for me cos I visit the prayer forum, but I thought about others who do not...they could very well be puzzled.

Cognitive assessment is an examination of how much the brain is recognizing, generally linked to short memory. It is a common assessment for those who have had strokes and suffered short-term memory loss.

All the best,

Cheers,

Jim

Jim,

The info on the letter says I have to allow 2 hours for the assessment. Hmmm. I have absolutely no idea what this assessment entails. I will just have to wait and see.

I was trying to watch an Agatha Christie film downstairs with the others, but I got bored. I can rarely manage to sit through a film these days, they are just too long for me.

Rob has a deacons meeting to attend tonight, so I expect I will read.

What are you doing today? Anything interesting or just pottering today?

Blessings

Sheila

I wonder if they'd have you read something and then test to see what you remember at certain intervals of time. There might be information about it on the internet.

LOL...Diane, I can't even remember the texts to find in the Bible when I have my quiet time. I frequently cause chaos here with my bad memory. LOL.

With menopause I lose 'words' and could give you the definition of the word I want to use but can't recall the exact word.

Hi Sheila,

To-day I had to get a photo taken for my health card...4 hours later.....I was number 165 in the waiting room.

Remember..People think I am joking when I say I don't know wot day it is, but they should talk to Mary...Poor girl, she has to take it all.

There are a lot of things I know, but can't get it out in words, and if someone interrupts me, Lord help them, cos I show no mercy. My attention span is about 20 minutes.

I can't answer what your test will be like. I think they differ from place to place. There was some reading,,a little writing,,multiple choice answers and some visuals..like witnessing a crime scene and then recalling everything in detail...that was tough.

I shouldn't worry about it though.

Cheers,

Jim

I found a site where you can download a free test and some others with sample tests.

http://www.cognitive-aptitude-assessment-software.com/

How is a Cognitive Assessment conducted?

A Cognitive Assessment is conducted on a desktop computer using MindstreamsTM advanced interactive software. The computer program prompts the patient through a variety of tasks. Based on the patient's response, MindstreamsTM evaluates the brain functions that are critical to daily living, including:

memory
hand-eye coordination
verbal skills
reaction speed
visual perception
problem-solving ability

The exercises typically take about 45 minutes to complete and are designed to determine if the level of brain function is within normal, age-specific ranges. Upon completion of the exam, an assessment report is generated and sent directly to your referring physican for review.

Aww thanks for your encouragement. No, I am not worried about the assessment. I have learned thru' all this that this is nothing to be gained by worrying. Now...praying about it, that is the thing to do.

Jim, yes I can relate to that. I think these ppl had better speak to Rob rather than to me. He has to live with me. And yes, when someone interrupts me ( which they frequently do ) then it is gone.

Diane, just as long as they don't ask me to follow a recipe, !! LOL

Well, I got up cos I can't sleep. Just had a yoghurt. It is not quite 5.30 am here.

Where's that Roger?? I thought he was our early morning bird??

I will have a quick wander and then toddle off to bed again. It is cold here.

God Bless

Sheila

Roger is around - a lot of problems with this issue of the Torch (the gospel newsletter we distribute). Beth is home, and we are trying to find a place for a Polish Christiand to stay till he goes back to Poland in the next 6 weeks.
