Hi everyone. I am busy looking for another church nearby for regular worship. Our home church have voted to accept alternative marriages once the Anglican Church makes a decision...the overall Anglican vote this past weekend defeated the concept by a very small margin, and they fear the Anglican Church in Canada will endorse it in a couple of years.
We don't have much choice locally and may be stuck with church by television. We have Anglican and unitarian Pentecostal in town; Free Methodist and Pentecostal within 10 miles; Baptist 40 miles (all one way) and a number of other very liberal churches in between.

I'm sorry to hear that Jim. With your ministry to the nursing homes, I feel as if you're a missionary for the Lord, tho unpaid by a church.
We have a group that rotates teaching at the nursing homes each Sunday. They have a little Sunday School and a little service with a song or two. I'm told the older folk aren't up for 2 hours worth of lessons and preaching.

Thank you. Ministry is not always meat and potatoes, pulpit and pay, but is ministering the things of Christ to all. I am an ambassador of Christ sitting in the Corner Store having coffee and just chatting, and I am a minister when people have a need,,,at a fire call, a road accident, a death in the family or just a needy soul seeking consolation. This is my ministry, and it never needed a local church.
Whilst I have befriended homosexuals, I cannot remain where the act is given credibility as a Christian act in matrimony. It is in this context we are searching for another place of worship.

It is very quiet in here of late. I have not long arrived home after spending some time at university studying this morning. This dissertation seems to be taking forever, but I am almost at the end of the fourth chapter with only two more verses to go and then on to chapter five, the final chapter.
I saw the Cheltenham Town Cryer in action on my way back to the bus this lunchtime. Boy, was he loud, but our Gloucester Town Cryer is louder. He is actually in the Guinness Book of Records.
Well, that is all my news for the moment I think. Rob and I are off to Newent, to our favourite Christian Book Shop/Coffee Shop. We haven't been there in ages.

I can sympathize with those of you working on dissertations. I've been researching on a couple of books for several years now, and the one on Intertestamental History is the closest to getting finished, but still a couple years away from publication.

I do like the opportunity to talk to others who are studying. The mature students at university are scattered over quite a considerable area, so there is little chance for fellowship outside of lectures.

Hi Sheila, I'm Ken (yeah, another Ken on the board!). My university days are over for the time being (I know, never say never). My research and "future" books are just my own doing and some prompting from the Lord. I have several "irons in the fire", but the one on Intertestamental Period is currently the most developed as far as research goes. I'm hoping sometime this winter to start typing a first rough draft.
I went to Ohio State 20+ years ago and have a B.A. in History. Haven't been able to do much with it I'm afraid, so I figured it's time to put some of this know-how to work. Been doing this for about 8-9 years, part of the problem is, since it is not for a class or professor, there is no final date, and I keep finding this to be much more involved and complex than I first thought!
Roger and I haven't known each other very long, but we seem to "fit" pretty well as brothers in Christ. We manage to keep cheering each other on.
