I had a professor who said, A student works best under pressure. I am that pressure. He was so right. We are such slackers at times.

I was fortunate during school days. I always had a pastorate and it kept me extremely busy at all times. Had no choice but to work. The trouble was I worked late into the evening in those days and sometimes all night.

Keep at it, Roger. It is all worthwhile.

With 25 years teaching at the university, I know what it is to keep at the students to get things done. It seems that all students develop bad habits when it comes to finishing term papers and especially work on their theses and dissertations.

I always encouraged them to write an outline and work from there. The outline told the whole story and the rest was just filler and documentation.

To this day, I write all my sermons the same way. Choose a title and write three points, all in alliteration. It makes it easier to remember for both the preacher and people alike.

I had a former Pastor, did that too. 3 points (usually), and alliterated the points. In fact he did it so much, I'm not sure he was capable of NOT alliterating sermon points!

Good to see you Jim. Seems like our time to chat comes in spurts. I know I have more online time when I have the tiny children because I have to stay where I can see them at all times. The t.v. room is quite safe, has their toys, etc.

Sheila, hope all goes well for Leo and am so glad Tammy perked back up. My Jim has said I need to wait on a new pet until we can catch up on our mortgage and have money for things like pet food and litter. I know he's right but I do so miss having a sweet furry friend.

Our pastor sometimes has MANY points but he has printed out sheets in our bulletins and on the big screens so we can follow along. I'd get lost otherwise because he moves quickly.

Hello Diane,

Leo has to have his Kennel Cough vaccination and also the dog groomer has advised that the wart on the top of his head is removed because it is now difficult to groom him properly there in that area. We are most fortunate that she used to breed poodles and she judges them, so she knows what she is talking about. Will see what the vet says tomorrow, and also how much it will cost. It is something that needs to be done tho'.

Yes, I know what Jim means. When we lost Cassie our house seemed so empty and lifeless, but we couldn't face having another dog so soon after losing her. We waited seven months and were then blessed with Leo.

Hi Sheila, I know you won't see this before morning, but I should respond. All is well here. Trying to keep busy.

All older dogs develop "warts" somewhere. If it is benign, most vets like to leave them alone cos putting the dog under anasthesia is harder on them than leaving the "wart" alone, and it is harmless. Your vet will tell you though.

Thanks Diane. Yes, I don't pop in as much as I once did. Everyone seemed overwhelmed or ill and frankly I didn't want to read it day after day...I just wanted peace and forget my woes.

Well, I think winter has arrived. It dropped to -13 last night and reach only -6 all day. We also had a sprinkling of snow. The good news is that it is supposed to be milder in week....and rain!

Hi Jim,

Well, I can't sleep. Nothing unusual there, but tonight seems to be dragging by so slowly I thought I would look in and see what is going on in here. Jim, Leo's wart is on the top of his head and has become fairly long in length, making grooming him properly difficult. We will see what the vet says.

I am off for a wander round the threads. Will look in later,

derived from a Latin term meaning "base or humble". I chose it a number of years ago when I was going through some crises in my life.

Thank you for explaining that. I have learnt something. We never stop learning.

Leo has his surgery tomorrow. We will drop him off at the animal hospital early tomorrow morning and pick him up again sometime in the afternoon.
I don't really like going there because that is where Cassie died.

I have to start doing Christmassy things like writing out cards and wrapping presents. Also some of us here(three at least) have to fit in some studying today. That is meant to be a subtle hint.
