I was glad to see a movie on the American Revolution come out like The Patriot last year. I hoped it would be in the excellent quality of Glory and Gettysburg (despite some historical inaccuracies in it) that showed the great sacrifice of those who fought in the War between the States. I liked The Patriot as a action movie and give it a A for entertainment. Unlike Glory and Gettysburg which gave a realistic and balanced view of the men who fought and the reasons why, the potrayal of the British in the The Patriot as almost like the Nazi's was very unfair and wrong. The movie did show British General Cornwallis as very human and I think was balanced but overall the British were potrayed as Hollywood villains that I think hurt the film. I liked The Patriot as entertainment but felt it came up way short as history. So I was slightly disapointed. I did like the fact it showed that a good many in the Colonies opposed the war and that the Revolution much like the War between the States often was Brother against Brother and Neighbor against Neighbor.
