Permitted, but I'd rather they get a Bible and daily scripture readings than get killed.

So perhaps my selection would be that the NT teaches it's "Permitted, but not the best option".

It clearly permitted by governments.

However, I do not believe Christians should support the death penalty.

peace to you

Other. The death penalty is a sin against God. But the world is not expected to follow God.

I see no prohibition. I think we need to start public hangings and firing squads again.

That reminds me that way back in the day I was going to Community College in San Diego, CA and my major was Criminology Corrections... Our teacher asked what would be a good deterrent to crime?... So I raised my hand and he called on me... Well I said, we could put a guillotine in the city square?... It kind of shocked him:eek:... But the class got a laugh... Brother Glen:Laugh

I see hangings to be reserved for traitors to the country. Firing squads should be reserved for enemy executions and drowning for Heinous crimes like rape, child molestation and murder. We can discuss public burnings and drawn and quartered for another time. All should provide a deterrent to crime.

I agree.

Some Christians support the death penalty. Others abortion. Potato, potahto. The only difference is their justifications.

No, because executing a person guilty of a Capital crime is not a sin.
Same principle. No difference (for a Christian). And yes, it is a sin except perhaps it meet the qualifications listed in Scripture (which is very rare in the secular judicial system).

Executing a convicted murderer is not sin.
By the testimony of two and under a theocracy maybe not. But even that is pushing it.

Anyone who would support the death penalty (under a secular government) would support abortion except for their personal preference. The immorality is the same.

Actually many who are pro-abortion - are anti-death penalty (which makes no sense)
and many Pro-life are are Pro death penalty - because the baby has no choice - but the convicted murder made his own choice
