The post 911 world AND God's judgment

Recently I was recommended to purchase a book tying Ezekiel to Bible prophecy and tying all of the things that have happened in america since 911 as being God's judgment. Did any of you know that the current heat wave is the highest on record? Did any of you know that homosexuality has exploded since 911? Do any of you know that the economy has taken the tank since 911? And so on, and so forth.. I am not interested in debates with non Dispensationalist so please those of you whom do not like newspaper prophecy this is not the right thread for you.

Actually everything must be tested by the scripture. But newspapers and such confirm what the Bible teaches.

Since Ezekiel was sent to preach to Israel according Ezekiel 2, I doubt he was thinking about a country 2,500 years later.

I am sure that God will judge America, just as I am sure that God will judge those who use His Word incorrectly to sell books.

Here's something that will blow your mind...I'm a progressive Dispensationalist. Actually I know more than a few people who are classical dispensationalists are are also sensible and don't see the "rapture" behind every CNN report from the Middle East.

1. Increase in homosexuality is a judgment from God. Really? God judges us by sending us more sin?

2. The economy is in the tank since 911. Actually the economy rebounded nicely after 911 and it wasn't until the housing bubble burst in 2008 that we saw a bad economy.

3. Heat wave. We are currently in the uptick of the solar cycle, which produces heat waves and other atmospheric phenomenon on an 11 year cycle.

Technically, the "boom" after 9/11 was false prosperity due to the housing bubble. The bursting of the housing bubble is the correction to structural imbalances. We are not allowing our economy to reallocate resources where they need to be because the government and the Fed are intent on "stimulating" the malinvestments again that led to the problems in the first place.

Mark me down as one of those "whom do not like newspaper prophecy".

Seriously, evan, if you want to just hobnob with just the ones of your own stripe why don't you go to a group like Rapture Ready? There you can high-five each other on your doctrinal correctness, comfortably oblivious to any of that bothersome iron-sharpening that comes from other POVs.

I suppose it is pointless to tell you not to waste your money on that trash. Cahn, the author that you admire so unreservedly, makes mincemeat of the Bible he pretends to expound. He especially trashes Isaiah 9:10-11:

“The bricks have fallen down,
but we will rebuild with dressed stone;
the fig trees have been felled,
but we will replace them with cedars.

'But the Lord has strengthened Rezin’s foes against them and has spurred their enemies on."

This reminds of a lady who spoke in our old church about the Isaiah verse of "when the towers fall", thinking it was so prophetic for the event that had just recently happened (This was ten years back).

Well, this is more of the same. People like Cahn (pronounced "con") make merchandise out of people who just cannot master the concept of reading in context, and of understanding the importance of audience relevance.

So, then who would Resin be? Russia?? Rhetoricritical question.

Just where does Cahn get this Jew / Gentile thing. God through the Apostle Paul tells us:

Galatians 3:27-29
27. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
28. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
29. And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Colossians 3:8-11
8. But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
9. Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;
10. And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:
11. Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.

What does Cahn mean by the following nonsense:

The New Covenant has no more to do with Jews than it does with Gentiles, or Greeks as Paul sometimes calls them.

You know I was reading Erwin Lutzers book Is God on Americas side last night and he carries a similar tone. He was speaking about 911 and speaking about how God may be using events, and other nations to judge us for our sin. Lutzer writes allot in a tiny 100 page book as he does a great job of getting allot into a few pages. I would give this book a B+ rating as it is outstanding!! David Jeremiah also wrote similar content in his books.

I am not so sure I will agree with everything the author of my new book (which should arrive soon) will write, but hopefully I will agree wit most. It all needs to be tested with the scriptures. But there is little doubt in my mind that the events that have been occurring recently very well may be God's judgment on us for our sin. I have been to the french quarter and the level of evil in that place is very very wicked. Once I remember stoping by a shop to get a soda, and I could just feel the demonic spirits residing in that place. I should have stopped elsewhere, as it was a voodoo shop. I think Hurricane Katrina was used by God to bring judgment on the city of New Orleans, but I could be wrong.

Ever since 9/11 I have read comments re: Gods judgments "on America" as:
1-certain, 2-possible, 3-unlikely, 4-NO!!

I fall at about 1.3 on this scale.

That being said, I am totally amazed at those who so quickly denounce any suggestion that these extreme and unusual weather patterns etc - among other events - are "NOT JUDGMENTS FROM GOD"!!

All I can say re: their adamant certainty is that I sure do envy their access to God's mind!!!!:smilewinkgrin:


I remember once in Ft Lauderdale, Fla my family went into a restaurant about 5:30 PM for supper & after about 2-3 minutes we looked at each other & said almost simultaneously, "This place feels evil, let's go!"

Can't describe the feeling other than that; it felt evil.

The sign of the times is all around us, and we must watch and discern what events that transpire line up with prophecy, or else we are caught sleeping.

Just watch out when the whole world cries out for peace, because it isn't the wars and rumors of wars we need to be fearful of.
