The president says.....

The president says any failure to reach a last-minute deal will fall squarely on the GOP's shoulders. Blame game before the end game? Nice Job Mr. President. http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/ticket/...e-fiscal-cliff-fight-161619855--politics.html

Who cares? Fire him and Congess!!!

If they reached a last minute deal he was gonna take all the credit. This is all a big farce and the tax payers are the ones who will suffer. They can approve raises, but they can't do a budget.

They'll get a deal. Boehner and McConnell both clearly see that the GOP's slim chances of retaining control of the house in 2014 depend on it. The President's proposal has been on the table for several months, and aside from not wanting to tax the wealthy at a fair and comparable rate, Boehner had approved the spending cuts, $1.7 trillion of them, contained within.

You guys need to get out of the extremist right wing media bubble that wouldn't know truth if it slapped them silly, and find independent media sources that report with as little bias as is possible. Fox, Drudge, Limbaugh, Beck and others of their ilk are not news sources.

This forum is nothing but a Republican shill. You are selling out to corporate interests and cutting your own throats.

Tells us how you really feel Jack. LOL

Republicans should know they will get voted out if they bend to the will of Obama and drive us deeper into debt. Obama has made no real move to lead. He doesn't know how to lead. He only knows how to make demands, and bypass the laws of the land for his agenda.

You proved my point. The GOP got voted out in substantial numbers just a few weeks ago, and ultimately, what the right wing media billed as a "Romney landslide," or a "razor close election" turned out to be an electoral landslide for Obama, and a popular vote mandate for him. The standard line "Obama has made no real move to lead," is just plain (Slang removed). There is not a shred of evidence to support that, it is GOP talking points.

The solution is real simple. Get out of the war business, set up a tax structure that requires corporations and the wealthy to pay a tax rate that pays for the advantages they use to make their profits, which is fair, and cut the budget where it can be cut, including defense waste. BTW, Obama's proposal includes $1.7 billion in spending cuts, which Boehner said was plenty.

This whole thing is a comedy, especially when you look at the list of Republicans who screamed like pigs over the stimulus, but went ahead and made sure their congressional district or their conservative state got their share, like Paul Ryan ($20 billion) or Rick Perry in Texas ($60 billion and 80% of the jobs they created in the past three years.)

I cannot understand your analysis. McConnell is right up your alley.

There's that word again. Liberals love it , because they can keep moving the goalposts. So dishonest. They never say what "fair" is. Basically it's whatever they need it to be at the time.

Democrats do not intend to cut anywhere but defense. that's a huge part of the problem.

I certainly hope that was meant to be 1.7 trillion. Why don't they get serious and do that per year?

I bet that the Democrats hope we go over so they have more money to spend.

That has always been the plan. They figure they'll get their economy killing tax increase by passing new legislation in January and keep the draconian defense cuts.

Notice that crippling defense cuts have never been part of the negotiations? If you can call Obama's my way or the highway negotiating.

That's quite a mouthful Jack. We're selling out to corporate interests but Obama's administration is pure Wall Street. OH NO!

Who's selling us out to corporate interests?
