Yes, I know that no man is to know the time....but based on all we see going on around us and the world, how close do you feel, in your spiritual gut, that we are to His retrun? :type:

Israel is already talking about needing to go it alone in defending itself, and we know that happens after the rapture.

The rapture (I'm historical pre-mil) isn't likely in my lifetime, my children's lifetime, their children's lifetime, etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc

It is not the task of believers to worry about when, but to prepare by proclaiming and leading the lost to faith.

Perfect response. John expected Jesus back any moment. St Patrick wrote of 'the soon advent of our. Lord and Saviour.' Martin Luther was certain in the light of current events that Jesus had to be coming back any day.

Jesus didn't know the day or the hour. Why do I think I can figure it out?

'Why stand ye here gazing?' the angel asked. The same may be asked of many who are so focused on when.

My choice is not on the list. I fully expect Him back any minute.

I did not see the option for "never", which would have been every Christian's choice before 1830.

The rapture is a new invention. You may have heard about it all your life, but Christians did not believe in it, did not see it in the Bible (mainly because it isn't there) for 1800 YEARS of church history.

You're making the common error in this age of confusing the "rapture", a modern theological invention, with the Second Coming, an essential doctrine of the Christian faith.

No, you err in your presumption. I am being purposefully vague as to not derail this thread.

The question in the poll itself has nothing to do with the rapture. The thread title is misleading.

I've got records I bought back in the 70's of Maze Jackson on the end times and according to him the rapture was going to take place any day. What did Israel do to prophets that made false prophecies ? :tonofbricks:

I love how when any thread on the rapture comes up the scoffers need to make their presence felt.

Sorry, C4K, but both are "returns." Coming in the clouds for His church is a return, though not to Earth. He will be seen, but probably only by believers, though if God chooses to let some see Him in His glory as He removes His church, it would assuredly be a sign for the world -- even though they won't believe the witnesses. His Second Coming, when He actually brings judgment on the face of the Earth, is also a return, and everyone will see Him then -- with fear, trepidation and great anguish.

Just in case anyone was wondering, I am a dispensational pre-millenialist, and I expect Christ to come for me and the rest of His church in the next 35-30 years.

Doesn't matter to me whether the rapture is real or not. While I tend to hold to the pre-trib rapture theory, I've given up on trying to decipher prophecy. God's gonna do whatever He wants and it won't matter in the end how He's going to do it.

Sound like me. I have heard it called panmellinialism - I never can spell that - it's all going to pan out in the end :)

I'm going to interpret the OP's two confusing questions in the thread title and the poll question to be:

Q. How close are we to the Rapture?

A. One day closer than we were yesterday. And Lord, please let it be today!

Is there a supracalvifragilistic position on this matter?

Jesus said, "Behold, I come quickly and my reward is with me." He is not talking to the lost.

We are not yet two days since Jesus was here--in God's time.

A good possibility: whenever the last sheep is drawn into the fold--it might be today, in the next 5 minutes, after our next heartbeat.

Jesus said He would return and get followers. He is faithful--even when we are not.

Are we ready?

Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

Too many people believe it will be soon, so it will not be soon. God does not dance to our whims.

Closer than any other group of christians since jesus ascended, and need to plan our lives as if he could return now, but that we could also all die before that happened!
