A group "requiring" a Baptist church to do anything is very much against Baptist fundamental tenants. Our church group requires their Baptist churches to tithe/budget at least 11 % towards missions....

Not if we agreed to those stipulations, that was exercising our "free will decision"A group "requiring" a Baptist church to do anything is very much against Baptist fundamental tenants.
The denomination does not have the power to compel giving. Yall seem to have the Baptist distinctives messed up a bit.Not if we agreed to those stipulations, that was exercising our "free will decision"
Giving is the most amazing thing I've ever experienced. I know most do not believe this but its true. The more I give the more I receive and it's not just what I give to the church.. Some may think this is nonsense but the happiest people in the world are generous in there giving.

We believe that God directed that we should be tithers, so its really in our eyes God compelling us to give! The denomination does not have the power to compel giving. Yall seem to have the Baptist distinctives messed up a bit.
Why 11%?Our church group requires their Baptist churches to tithe/budget at least 11 % towards missions....
hehehehehe Your funny! Then do you give everything you have or earn? If not, why not? You would have more if you did, according to your thesis. Indeed, why do you not own everything in the world if the principle is absolutely true? And if you did give the whole world away, what would you get then?-- a bigger world?
I don't know either answer!Why 11%?
And what happens if they don't?
Jesus spoke more often to money and finances then many other doctrines, and yet if a pastor does it at all in the pulpit....I always find it strange, that of all the things Christians can be up in arms against, so many choose tithing.
I also find it strange that the people who decry pastors' love of money, seem to do so out of...a love of money.
I don't know that it was more often than any other doctrine, but good point.Jesus spoke more often to money and finances then many other doctrines, and yet if a pastor does it at all in the pulpit....
He knows that if God gets the heart as in the purse strings, one of the main idols in our lives is now dealt with!I don't know that it was more often than any other doctrine, but good point.
There is nothing wrong with 11, 20, 50, or whatever. The problem is a Baptist association demanding members do something. We believe that God directed that we should be tithers, so its really in our eyes God compelling us to give!
I encourage a pastor preach cheerful giving.Jesus spoke more often to money and finances then many other doctrines, and yet if a pastor does it at all in the pulpit....
All Baptist churches hold to some kind of statement of belief/practice, that demands some things be held! There is nothing wrong with 11, 20, 50, or whatever. The problem is a Baptist association demanding members do something.
Not exactly. All Baptist churches hold to some kind of statement of belief/practice, that demands some things be held!
there are some things that we must hold and even be Baptists! Not exactly.
hehehehehe Your funny!
You grumble like a Pharisee. I don't give, to get. I give because it's a pleasure. I receive every thing I need and then some. I'm debt free can you say the same?
Luk 6:38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

I have given all . Have you? Or do you give anything at allI didn't ask you if it's a pleasure or what your motive is. I asked if you give everything you have or earn. And if you do get pleasure from giving, then why would you not give everything, as you get more than you receive (you say), so then you can get more of the pleasure of giving?
