The reason Baptist preachers teach tithing

Giving is the most amazing thing I've ever experienced. I know most do not believe this but its true. The more I give the more I receive and it's not just what I give to the church.. Some may think this is nonsense but the happiest people in the world are generous in there giving.

Then do you give everything you have or earn? If not, why not? You would have more if you did, according to your thesis. Indeed, why do you not own everything in the world if the principle is absolutely true? And if you did give the whole world away, what would you get then?-- a bigger world?

The denomination does not have the power to compel giving. Yall seem to have the Baptist distinctives messed up a bit.
We believe that God directed that we should be tithers, so its really in our eyes God compelling us to give!

hehehehehe Your funny!
You grumble like a Pharisee. I don't give, to get. I give because it's a pleasure. I receive every thing I need and then some. I'm debt free can you say the same?
Luk 6:38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

I always find it strange, that of all the things Christians can be up in arms against, so many choose tithing.
I further find it ironic (not to say hypocritical) that the people who decry pastors' love of money, seem to do so out of...a love of money.
If you want to warn the sheep about those who would skin them, blast the prosperity gospel.
And if you don't like to give 10%, feel free to give more and encourage others to do so.

Jesus spoke more often to money and finances then many other doctrines, and yet if a pastor does it at all in the pulpit....

There is nothing wrong with 11, 20, 50, or whatever. The problem is a Baptist association demanding members do something.
All Baptist churches hold to some kind of statement of belief/practice, that demands some things be held!

I didn't ask you if it's a pleasure or what your motive is. I asked if you give everything you have or earn. And if you do get pleasure from giving, then why would you not give everything, as you get more than you receive (you say), so then you can get more of the pleasure of giving?

I have given all . Have you? Or do you give anything at all
