By shifting from "literally fulfilled" to "now there's a transition"
you remove what should be held as factually fulfilled in the future as spiritually fulfilled now.[/QUOTE]
Well Agedman, that is one of the major points in contention.I do not think the OT.manner of doing things runs parallel to what happens in the NT.
I think their is a new paradigm introduced by Jesus.
The Kingdom clearly has begun, John the Baptist announced it, and jesus spoke of it as beginning. It is progressive , ongoing, and growing.
Part of it is yet future for sure...
Rather, appoint to this age that which is this age and for the grace of this age.
Appoint to that future age that which is for that age and the rule of that age.
You see this as a clear distinction I see it as much more of a blended situation...
Christ does not rule and reign on the earth from the throne of heaven.
Sure He does.....this is without question;
30 Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;
31 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.
32 This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.
33 Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.
34 For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,
35 Until I make thy foes thy footstool.
36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made the same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.
God said to Him, "sit here beside be UNTIL I make your enemies your footstool.
"
yes....
22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.
24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father;
when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.
25
For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.
26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.
27 For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him.
28 And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.
Jesus rules in the midst of His enemies....He asks Saul Saul, why do you persecute ME?
The church is to bring the truth of reconciliation (as Paul stated is the mission), but that is not the evidence of the mission of the church in the millennium.
the church preached the Kingdom;
22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.
Acts28;
30 And Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house, and received all that came in unto him,
31
Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him.
