[QB]John 1I think I have gone over that already, but for your sake, I believe that Jesus was in God, prior to coming out of God, in the form of the Word of God, and while still in God, He was God, because He was part of God. Now that He has come out of God, and is the Son of God, He is no longer just a part of God, but His own person, the Son of God.
You make absolutely no sense here. While He was in God He was God? Could you point me to some Scripture to support that?
There can only be ONE God. It is IMPOSSIBLE for their to be two, because God cannot lie, and He said there is NHow can He 'be' God and at some point cease to 'be' God? That is impossible! Either He was God or He was not!THER GOD, and that after Him there would never be another. SO, in order for there to be ONE God, and John 1 to be true, then it HAS TO be an account of the moment when Christ proceeded forth from God! If John 1 is true, and it is NOT interpreted the way that I have interpreted it (based on the whole of scripture), then you have two Gods. The trinity is what is impossible.
Just because something is written in scripture doesn't mean it is true! They also said that Jesus had a demon and was a Samaritan! Who are you going to believe? I'm going to believe Jesus, and He corrected them, and told them that He was NOT saying He was God, but that He was the SON of God. I didn't twist anything, Neal, I just read it. Jesus told them who He was. It was THEIR judgment that He was making Himself equal to God. What does the BIBLE say about MANS judgments? You are taking a plain statement and totally twisting it. You do the same with John 5 and 10. The Bible reports that the Jews knew that by claiming God as His Father Jesus was equating Himself to God. And you state the exact opposite of Scripture. Who am I to believe, you or Scripture?
I beg to differ. There are at least 400 ifs, ands or buts! Use that wing ding software of yours and look up the phrase 'Spirit of God'. Then look up 'God the Holy Spirit'. Then we'll talk. Also, it is clear that the Holy Spirit is seperate from both Jesus and the Father. Read over John 14:15-31. It is CLEAR that the Holy Spirit is separate from both Jesus and the Father. No ifs, ands, or buts.
The only trouble I am running into is caused by the closed minded, tradition absorbed people who paruse this board! All of my family members, and friends have LOVINGLY accepted my change of beliefs, and several of them have joined me.Do you not see all the trouble that you are running into with this?![]()
How you figure, Neal? The Bible says that God gave Jesus everything that He has. All the power He has, is from God. EVERYTHING He has, is from God.Your explanation as to how the Father and Jesus are one is woefully inadequate.
I think it's a little early to say that! We've only just begun. The jury hasn't even been called in yet!In philosophy we learned that the most desirable position to take is one that best explains ALL the evidence. Your position does not explain ALL the evidence very well and you have to twist and turn plain teachings just to try to hold on to it.
I disagree. Why do you believe in the trinity? Because it makes SO much sense? My beliefs make sense. They are based on Biblical study, reason, and logic. God didn't give us logic and reason so that we could depend on a group of men that died nearly 1700 years ago for our doctrines! PROVE to yourselves whether the things that they teach are of God, or not. Bereans. It is irrational.
I appreciate your admiration Neal, really I do, but your fear saddens me. I spent several months pouring my heart and soul into discovering the truth. I did it on my knees and at the Word. If you honestly think that the conclusion I have arrived at is from any other source than God, then perhaps I should suggest that you stop praying for guidance, as I know you do, and that you stop studying for yourself.I admire your zeal, but I fear that you are making a very grave mistake with all of this.![]()
Where God leads an open heart is usually the road that is less travelled by. Think of all the great men and women that have lived over the past 2 millenia. Those who go where God leads them, are not only noticed, but they are usually hated by many, loved by a few, and live lives that please God.
This is my daily prayer, that I would do justly, love mercy and walk humbly with my God.
Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.May the Lord Jesus Christ Bless You,
Neal

Is this plagiarism from the Muslim Koran. It sounds like it. It is the same view they hold, or accuse Christians of holding just like you accuse Christians of holding. Are you a Muslim?Originally posted by Ricky_Lee:
But trinitarianism goes a step further and maintains that there are THREE divine beings or individual deities, all of the same age, all without beginning, all Almighty Gods and all Supreme Rulers of the universe and without one scintilla of Biblical verbiage to back it up! This, friends is NOT Biblical. There are NOT two gods. Nor are there three gods.
You don't accept the Scripture or Scriptural examples when we do, so what is the use.Originally posted by Carson Weber:
Show me where in Scripture it says that only Scripture is authoritative.
That's right, Jesus was just yanking our chain in John 14.I beg to differ. There are at least 400 ifs, ands or buts! Use that wing ding software of yours and look up the phrase 'Spirit of God'. Then look up 'God the Holy Spirit'. Then we'll talk.
What are you saying? I am not following you here.If you honestly think that the conclusion I have arrived at is from any other source than God, then perhaps I should suggest that you stop praying for guidance, as I know you do, and that you stop studying for yourself.
Funny, the RCC likes to claim all kinds of things as its 'own'.you're only confirming Catholic doctrine when you show this to be the case.
This is what points to the trinity. It is clear the HS is separate from Christ, but yet is the same as Him. How can this be? The trinity is one ontologically. The Father didn't send a third person of a trinity, He sent the Spirit of Jesus. The Spirit of Truth, is the Spirit of Jesus! Who is the 'way the TRUTH and the life'? Jesus!
Apology accepted. I apologize that I took it the wrong way. I have been under a lot of stress with school lately, so my humor is gone right now.I apologize if you took it the wrong way.
