Protec Inc. for 30 years has documented Vibration Prediction, Monitoring, and Structure Inspections, and is an independent authority on explosive demolition. Protec was operating seismographs in Manhattan and Brooklyn at the time of the 9/11 attacks. For several weeks after 9/11 Protec inspectors and photographers documented the deconstuction and debris removal at the site.
Among their conclusions:

ASSERTION
"But explosive charges (aka plumes, squibs, etc.) can clearly be seen shooting from several floors just prior to collapse."

PROTEC COMMENT: No, air and debris can be seen pushing violently outward, which is a natural and predictable effect of rapid structural collapse. Human-inhabited buildings are typically comprised of about 70% air and 30% structural elements and contents. During any rapid collapse that air must be displaced in some manner. Therefore when gravity makes a structure fall downward, the air within the structure is propelled horizontally through windows, doorframes, or any other path of
least resistance.

ASSERTION
"Several credible eyewitnesses are adamant that they heard explosions in or near the towers."

PROTEC COMMENT: Maybe they did hear loud noises that sounded to them like explosions, but such statements do nothing to refute scientific evidence that explosives were not used...Simply put, there are countless causes of sharp, loud noises that have no relation to explosives.

The only scientifically legitimate way to ascertain if explosives were used is to cross-reference the fundamental characteristics of an explosive detonation with independent ground vibration data recorded near Ground Zero on 9/11. Fortunately, several seismographs were recording ground vibration that morning, and perhaps more fortunately, all available data is consistent and appears to paint a clear picture.

Seismographs at Columbia University's Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory in Palisades, New York, recorded the collapses of WTC 1, 2 and 7. This data was later released to the public and currently appears on their website.

Additionally, on 9/11 Protec field technicians were utilizing portable field seismographs to continuously record ground vibrations on several construction sites in Manhattan and Brooklyn for liability purposes.
In all cases where seismographs detected the collapses, waveform readings indicate a single, gradually ascending and descending level of ground vibration during the event. At no point during 9/11 were sudden or independent vibration "spikes" documented by any seismograph, and we are unaware of any entity possessing such data.

This evidence makes a compelling argument against explosive demolition. The laws of physics dictate that any detonation powerful enough to defeat steel columns would have transferred excess energy through those same columns into the ground, and would certainly have been detected by at least one of the monitors."

I used to work in elevator construction in the Orlando Fl area. When the Tower of terror at Walt Disney World was being constructed it was a design that had never been done before. In fact there are many of the installers who will not ride it because it does things elevators are not supposed to do. The elevator moves at a high rate of speed both up and down. In fact it moves faster than an elevator can fre fall.

During the first preliminary run of the ride with sand baggs the elevator moved up the hoistway and once it reached full speed it blew large holes in the walls of the hoistway. What they discovered is that air has to have a quicker way of escape if it is going to move at that rate of speed. In the redesign, outlets in the hoistway were constructed for air to escape. The top and bottom of the elevator cars are made of a mesh to allow air to flow through the elevator and reduce the amount of air being pushed by the car.

Air being moved by falling debris such as large portions of a building is a powerful thing. And the noise froma building being blown apart by air makes quite the sound.

In the videos and sound clips by those suggesting there were explosions they use witness after witness that describe what they heard that day. A rather weak case at the most.

And saw that day.

I didn't know that you were on the ground near or inside of the World Trade Center on 9/11/2001, Timmy.

There were eyewitnesses of explosions that day. If you were there I am surprised that you didn't see some yourself or didn't talk to those there that did.

The whole country watched from their living rooms or places of work. And there were no explosions created by demolition bombs as this would have set off specific siesmogrphic signals.

To compare what you saw in the comfort of your home or office to what the people in the middle of the horror of that day saw is plum silly.

Therefore, you must be saying that the policemen and witnesses lied.

What about the people who saw an elevator explode?

What about the reports of an explosive van in the underground garage?

So to compare what I saw from a camera with the same vantage point as the witnesses is silly? With the same vantage point to both see and hear?

Therefore you must be saying that Ron Paul lied

I have never said that their was a conspiracy by the federal government to pull this off. In fact, in post #16 of this thread I suggested that maybe al Qaeda planted the explosives.

And then flew planes into the WTC as a final flourish...

Al Qaeda tried to blow up the World Trade Center before. I wouldn't be surprised if al Qaeda used explosives and also used the airliners for the visual effect it would have.
