They have 60: Government healthcare takeover moves forward

The problem is we now have a society that expects everything to be given to them. There is no pride of self-worth.

When a politician promises everything free, the masses will vote for him. Then those in the gray zone have no choice but to go to the liberal way.

For example. Someone is on Medicaid - But if they start making too much money they loose the "benefit". And the job they want has no health benefits - so now in essence the government now has total control over you.

The power to tax is the power to control

The Power to Tax Is the Power to Destroy

(not sure who to attribute the quotes to)

Then you are two for two, Ken.

You voted for both Bush and Obama.
Wrong again. He has got sense enough to perceive that both the Bush and Obama administrations greatly damaged this country and trashed the Constitution every chance they got. It is a concept that goes over many people's heads who post for the delight of seeing their posts on the internet, and have no idea what they are talking about. If one is not part of the solution, one is part of the problem.

The 60th vote (Ben Nelson, I believe) made this big show about being a pro-life democrat. He wouldn't vote for health care reform as long as it had abortion in it.

Now we see his pro-life disguise was just a political move to get more money for his state. After all, murdered babies don't vote.
Quite typical of the moral fiber of any politician now in power. If it means more money or political power, they would sell their soul.

BO ran on change... Ya'll happy now?

I've been thinking the GOP is a troubled party, but the democrats are far worse and far more dangerous... They won't stop till we're enslaved. No, they won't stop period, or till we toss them out.
Yes, lets toss them out and replace them with the liberal Republicans we just tossed out, so we can continue the endless cycle of anti-Constitutional government. We just never learn, do we? We continue to do the stupid things we did in the past and expect a different result.

That's why I have finally given up on both major parties for a very, very few folks such as Ron Paul and Rand Paul.

I don't care for him, and don't know much about his son. I'm with abcgrad94, most of the folks I know who support him are very cult-like about him. It has been years sence I've been able to put my support behind one of the front runners. I like Mitch
Romney but he didn't get far.

He is like Jimmy Buffett, those who like him go all out for him and those who don't, don't think much about him one way or the other.

Devils' avocate here:

Do you not believe your own tag line?

And do you not then believe that Bush, Obama and "trashing the Constitution" are all parts of God's plan?

Everything that happens is God's plan. In fact, they are probably the exact leaders this country deserves, because as a nation we have put into law things that are a stench to the Lord. (you know, such as abortion, gay rights, and abuse of citizens by governmental agencies)

This thread has nothing to do with theology. What kind of mindset asks "do you believe something that happens is part of God's plan?" Do you go around asking people if the sun will rise the next day?

That being said, this thread goes right back to the problem of the state of our country and those who keep it in such a state, those who are advocates of the status quo over the Constitiution, those that are champions of abusive and excessive government over the rights of citizens. If the shoe fits, wear it.

It's your tag line - not mine.

Guess they are just words then - huh?

I wish we could bring Washington, Jefferson, or other founding fathers to the table...just so they could see what has been done to ruin their great experiment of Freedom, Liberty, and Justice.

What's sad about this whole debacle--the supposed goal--insuring every American--won't happen. Millions will still be uninsured. (of course, insuring everyone wasn't the goal...expanding the role of government was. And on that goal, they succeeded)

I just wish those dishonest, socialist, vote-buying (and selling) extortioners (known as the sixty yes votes) would lose their jobs, pronto.

Not a chance. 2/3 of them reside in districts that are engineered to be full of people that refuse to think for themselves, and vote as they are told.

As horrible as this is, I doubt more than ten of these criminals will lose their jobs.

Nothing better would ever be expected of a mindset that is convinced that the present or immediately former government are serving the people, and governing they way they should. They can be spotted a mile away. They have no vision, their bar of expectation is extremely low, and generally they have no respect or faith in individual achievement. They are generally big-government liberals that pretend to be conservative.

Speaking of posts that are just words, that would be posts that support a broken down, abusive governmental agency, and one that supports the status quo.

And to echo the post above me, the reason scum like this stays in office is the mindset of voters this post addresses.

You are doing a good job of showing that you like to throw around baseless characterizations - but do nothing to back them up.

I suspect that your politics are the same.

Long on talk - short on facts and actions.

What's sad to me is how we got to this:

Certain democratic senators sold their votes...some for hundreds of millions of dollars. "Leaders" like Mary Landrieux and Ben Nelson are despicable. They are no better than the prostitutes in South Montgomery. They will sell themselves...the only differences are that they remain clothed in the process.

Of course, don't forget about Massachusetts: After Kennedy died, the MA state legislature had to do an "end-around" to get a replacement in so quickly. But...when you have an agenda, you cannot let pesky little things like the law get in the way.

I am ashamed of our country, and sickened by its so-called "leadership."

Can Alabama just secede? Unlike 1861, I feel much better about the reasonings for this one.

It's called politics now-a-days. They are all for sale! The ones who succeed are the ones who sell themselves out, yet convinced their constituents that it is in their best interest for them to do so.

Here in Houston, Texas we just had a mayoral run-off election between a man of questionable character and a avowed lesbian. The lesbian won. The sad thing is she is probably to most qualified of the two. I didn't vote; there was no one I could support. Unless things change, I may not be able to vote in many more national elections any more. If there is not someone who is honest and decent, I won't vote in these elections either. I refuse to settle for the lesser of two evils. Before God I cannot support these politicians who will support any bill if there is enough money in it for their reelection campaign. Or those who do their best to destroy what little morality we have left in the U.S.

As most Christians know, there is little or no hope that the United States will survive many more years, at least as a Christian country. We have sold out to pleasure and freedom to live as debased a lifestyle as we possibly can. Just look at what passes as television viewing today and you will see what I am talking about.
