Thinking about attending a KJVO Church

1. They use the KJV because they feel the reliability of the Textus Receptus is better than the Alexandrian Critical lines of text.

2. They KJV is used for preaching and teaching, but they will not argue with or disparage those who wish to use other versions.

3. In his words, "maybe once a year" he will preach on why he and the local church feel the KJV is best.
That seems quite reasonable to me as a non KJV-user. I could certainly live with it.

In Britain, the majority of the churches that still use the KJV are Reformed, often Reformed Baptist. The Metropolitan Tabernacle in London (Spurgeon's) is an example.

They went to the leaders of the church and told the pastor that we were sharing other versions with the people from our church. It wasn't long before we were called in front of the elders. From that, and other experiences I have learned that a lot of KJVO churches are pretty strict. So I would find out just how strict they were before I personally would attend, I decide if I was ready to be KJVO myself.

So...did you leave this church eventually? Being called in front of the elders, huh? That is a warning flag to me, unless you agreed beforehand to never use anything but King Jameth materials and DVD's.

For the record, I like the kjv. But I don't think it is the only bible.
