We cannot hide our sin from God & when we belong to Him, He chastens. This has been happening to Patrick for 3 years; each being a little more "attention-getting". God may use physical death to chastise His own. (I've already had more than one pastor tell me this). *Now do you understand why I am so upset?

My deceased father-in-law was a preacher & we raised our children in a 'stricter-than-most' Baptist church (ABA); but through the years of our son's late teen/young adulthood, we were led to a SBC work (because they told us they were interested in getting back to their Missionary Baptist roots). Then a group of charismatics crept in unawares & the rest is history...

Granny, I'm even more confused. If you think that your son's sin of belonging to this church is going to bring him death, and you say he is saved, doesn't death for him then mean heaven?

Yes, because Patrick is saved (& I believe that with all my heart, as I was there when he asked the Lord to save him & saw the change in him & how happy he was. I heard his testimony thru' the years & I watched his life blossom, as he grew into a man), he will go to Heaven. "Being the mama that I am, I'm just not ready to part with any of my children. Call it human or plain selfishness if you want to. He has a 4yr. old son who will need his daddy a long time. He has a daddy, a brother, sisters, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, neices, nephews, many aunts & uncles, a great-grandma, lotsa friends, who need him around. You must not be understanding my drift?

I find it very strange that Granny Gumbo would criticize the Oneness churches for what she claims is evil and weirdness yet she is listening to pastors whom I presume is Baptist who is telling her that her son could be killed by God for sinning for being in the Oneness movement and believing in tongues. I would question any preacher no matter what faith who uses things such as this to put fear in someones life. This sounds exactly along the same line Oneness preachers use, intimidation.

I don't think God is going to kill anyone for being in the Oneness movement because if he was he would have wiped them all out by now. They have been in existence since 1914. Even though I can no longer believe a lot of their doctrines I still consider most of them Christians because most of them do live less worldly lives then most Baptists I have known and been around. I don't believe in salvation by works and I believe their Holiness standards are bondage to their people still their lives can hold up to more scrutiny then any other group there is.

God does not kill someone over doctrine. I heard UPC preachers use this many times but it never came to pass. The trinitarians still exist.
I know a lot of people who left the Baptist belief and became Pentecostal and they lived to be pretty well up in age.

I think you've misunderstood what I've been trying to say. (I don't have the knowledge that most who post on here do, so forgive me for not being clearer). It isn't about 'doctrine'(altho' oneness-heresy is a belief that contradicts a clear teaching of the Word of God); but it's about willful sin. Our son knows that it's wrong to continue in a way that seems right to him, but one that God warns us about.

When a child of God is disobedient, he will be chastised(lovingly, as a parent would his own). The rebellious Christian can be certain that loss of blessing and God's chastening hand will become a reality. Have you never experienced this? I have. This does not mean a loss of salvation. If a believer continues to sin, without repenting, the chastisement becomes greater, & in extreme cases, one could suffer a premature death. This isn't 'scare' tactics. There's probably someone else that can explain this a lot better than me.

As I said in an earlier post I was reading online about the Original teachings of the doctrine of the Trinity and basically what is being argued about on this post is different then the very original version taught by Athansius and origen.

The original Nicene Creed declares that God the FAther, and God the Son and God the Holy Ghost are three persons in the Godhead. Literal supernatural people. They have shape and form. They are deity. Of one essence but separate. They are Co-existent. Co-equal and Co-eternal.

That's not the point though, T2U. The Bible says not to tempt God. For a Christian to do something contrary to God's will with the idea that he can justify it later or that God will rescue him before any harm comes is tempting God.

That's not to say that He won't rescue you, but He should be the one calling the shots.
