Time to end ALL protests?

Due to volatile nature of the people in this country, it is time to put an end to protests that close down public streets. Yes, I realize that would be a violation of our civil rights, but not if all protests were required to be held in a public or private facility ( I.e., an auditorium, or fenced-in park)) and the protester's required to hire private security and forbidden to take their protest beyond the rented facility. To break the agreement would result in automatic prison sentences of six-months minimum.

No public paid law enforcement official should be required to provide security for protests in the future. The groups who have created volatile environments have brought this about. And now the feds and states need to assure the public they are safe. I for one think anyone marching down streets where traffic and citizens are innocently navigating, is breaking a law the average citizen would be thrown in jail for committing. It is nothing short of MOB RULE, and it is time to stop these volatile events.

That is my opinion. So, go ahead and jump on me, but, Dallas was something these thugs were waiting to make happen. This was clearly a planned assassination. Was it not⁴

A Trump supporter calling for the abolishment of the First Amendment. Why am I not surprised?

Amazing ain't it?Tell him that the First and Second stay or go as a pair and see if he changes his mind.:Biggrin

LOL.

Best that fans of authoritarianism can do this election cycle is to vote for Trump and get rid of the 1A; vote for Hillary and get rid of the 2A.

BLM is a racist criminal organization. Their racism should be allowed as Free Speech, but their criminal activity shouldn't be tolerated. If they block streets or trespass in businesses, they should be arrested, not merely shoved off after a few hours. Repeated offenses should land their leaders in prison under organized crime statutes.

If BLM were white, their members would have faced repeated hate-crime charges, and BLM leaders would face legal consequences for violence BLM inspires.

Good people should denounce their racism. Good people should denounce Obama's racism.

Agreed .... especially your view on Obama. Preach it!

I don't know about other places, but the rally/protest in Dallas was appropriatly coordinated with the police department and was quite orderly... until the nut job starting murdering people.

Yes, I realize that would be a violation of our civil rights, but...
I agree. The problem with this sentence begins with the "but." You're far too eager to trade off our civil rights to try a quick and unsatisfactory fix.

...not if all protests were required to be held in a public or private facility ( I.e., an auditorium, or fenced-in park)) and the protester's required to hire private security and forbidden to take their protest beyond the rented facility.
So you want pro-life rallies/protests to be forced to hire private security (whether it is one person outside a clinic or thousands) and be forced into special "free speech zones" where the public does not have to see them or interact with them? Moreover, you place a burden on organizers and participants to estimate ahead of time how many security officers will be needed for a gathering and financially provide for it?

I know this is aimed at BLM, not pro-life groups, but it will cut in all directions. I'm hardly an advocate for BLM, but they have rights like a citizens.

To break the agreement would result in automatic prison sentences of six-months minimum.
Lock 'em up.

Where do you hope to spend your jail time when this thing backfires on Christians?

No public paid law enforcement official should be required to provide security for protests in the future.
Public servants are servants of the public. It's as simple as that. The Constitution demands the right to peaceably assemble, so they are obligated to respect that and provide for public safety.

The groups who have created volatile environments have brought this about. And now the feds and states need to assure the public they are safe.
Freedom of speech carries with it responsibility. But vague fears about safety don't trump free exercise of civil liberties.

How did I avoid the violence in Dallas? I didn't go to an area where passions might run high.

Truth be told, I didn't go because I wasn't interested. Moreover, I was at the Texas Rangers baseball game. I had to walk through a metal detector and was subject to search, but the Rangers were lousy that night.

I for one think anyone marching down streets where traffic and citizens are innocently navigating, is breaking a law the average citizen would be thrown in jail for committing. It is nothing short of MOB RULE, and it is time to stop these volatile events.
People CAN be cited for blocking traffic - and often are - in many situations. That's what should happen, not a repeal of the First Amendment!

That is my opinion. So, go ahead and jump on me, but, Dallas was something these thugs were waiting to make happen. This was clearly a planned assassination. Was it not⁴
It was NOT.

I can't believe something thinks that way.

This ran completely contrary to the goals of the BLM leadership in Dallas. Why in the world would you want someone firing into YOUR crowd? If it were not for the fast and courageous action of the Dallas Police Department, many others may have been murdered. Moreover, it gives racists an opportunity to claim BLM wants a "race war."

I talked to someone who was THERE and she told me the BLM leadership made it extremely clear that the DPD and DART police officers whom they encountered were not the enemy. Before the shooting started, participants took many photos posing with the officers and the mood was quite unified.

You need to reconsider where you are getting your information.

RD2 - I know you don't like me; you might even have me on ignore. I'm going to try to be as un-antagonistic as I can, and offer this for you to simply consider in all seriousness: the situation in Dallas is being used by the left to try to take away our constitutional 2nd amendment right. Now you've used the situation in Dallas to try to take away our constitutional 1st amendment right. What makes you better or different from the left?

If one crazy white guy guns down black folk in a church and ban all confederate flags WHY would we allow this racist group to "protest" after gunning down Police?

Confederate flags are not "banned." You can purchase them or make your own without criminal prosecution.

WHY would we allow this racist group to "protest" after gunning down Police?
The "racist group" did not gun down police.

If you have evidence to the contrary, I'm sure the authorities would be quite interested to hear from you.

African Americans, apparently, are a whole other species. Why would you expect anyone to treat them like white people?

Beyoncé had dancers dressed as Black Panthers as part of her racist Superbowl half-time show. BLM is a closely related, no less racist group. BLM has been closely tied to a surge in crime and murder, and chants of "no peace" (e.g. from protestors "no justice no peace no racist police" as shots started to ring out). One of Obama's first acts os president was to appoint a guy to the FBI who immediately dropped charges against armed Black Panthers who were intimidating voters at voting places.

Compare to the Tea Party, which is completely non-racist and non-violent. Who is it that the media portrays as racist and dangerous? Yep, the Tea Party.

and BLM leaders would face legal consequences for violence BLM inspires.

Then the same should apply to the GOP and FOX News.
Good people should denounce their racism.

Obviously doesn't apply to some of you when it comes to the GOP and that man running for President.
Good people should denounce Obama's racism.

I see we got another loon here. When you start denouncing the racism and racial prejudice coming out of the GOP and its nominee for President, then perhaps the good people would heed your hypocritical cry.[/QUOTE]

Protests are a right. However, where I get upset is when protesters block highways.
You should be at the courthouse or federal building bringing your grievances to the government, NOT impeding folks who need to get somewhere.

Calling the GOP racist is hateful nonsense.

There are white people in BLM too.

There are BLM chapters that don't allow white people to attend. Even if there are white people in BLM, would the KKK win your approval if the let in black people? (They might, for all I know.)
