To say salvation is by "faith alone" is a false gospel.

Greetings my fellow Baptists, I have something that I've been thinking about for a few months.

I'm hearing many saying salvation is by faith alone, I believe that is a false statement, and that it's preaching another gospel of salvation by works.

Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Eph 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Eph 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

You made an accusation, posted scripture that does nothing to expound on your accusation, and then you fail to do so yourself.

I already know where this is headed. Can we move this to Calvinist / Arminian section?

So, tell us what is the correct teaching on salvation? There can be no discussion until we have some idea what you are trying to say. If you are simply leading up to Calvinistic Gnosticism, then forget it. Thanks.

Saved by grace through faith as Scripture says.

Scripture also tell us that we must repent of our sins. Is repentance considered a "work"?

Waiting for enlightenment.

This should be interesting since the verse he posted contradicts his statement.

Well, there goes that one thief hanging on the Cross beside Jesus.

...and here all this time I was under the impression that when Jesus told said thief..., "To day shalt thou be with me in paradise", he was home free.

Oh well..., back to the drawing board.

...I wonder if there's a difference between Paradise and Heaven?

Without grace there is no faith and no Salvation!

I agree and here is why.

For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Titus 2:11 and that salvation that is brought by grace is, Hope. Titus 3:7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

Exactly what is this grace that brought our faith, and hope?

And if Christ be not raised, your faith vain; ye are yet in your sins. 1 Cor 15:17
The grace of God is the resurrection of his Son Christ by himself.
1 Peter 1:21 Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.

Salvation by works (false gospel)

Faith is believing, faith is an action a work of man freely embracing the gospel, if we say faith alone that's salvation by works.

Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. :)

No, my point is, without unmerited favor from God man would never by faith embrace the gospel.

1Co 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Amen, thanks for your help. :) Those who disagree would have to say God regenerates all humans, when scripture tells us that the wrath of God abides on ALL unbelievers.

Joh 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

Well, yea, it IS a false statement. This is the only mention of 'faith alone' to be found in all of scripture:

Ye see that by works a man is justified, and not only by faith. Ja 2:24

Many have 'gone to seed' with this 'sola fide' thingy.

I sure hope you are not preaching salvation by works as all the cults do.

Works are an evidence of a new creature or a regenerated creature, the works are not to earn and keep their salvation as the Rcc cult teaches.

Jas 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
Jas 2:18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
Jas 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
